Highly doubt the meter gain will be that high to immediately grant a ‘free breaker’ card to the defender. But yea , it’s very possible to get 2 EX bars while you’re getting pummeled.
Also , I wonder about the functionality of breakers.
Will it be possible to be used while airborn?
Can they be ‘baited’ like bursts on GG/BB ?
Can you perform a ‘breaker’ during an opponent’s X-ray move;
About the whole ‘damage’ deal , I do believe that combos with 1 ex bar dealing 45% damage is a bit too much , cause by logic , combos connecting an Xray can indeed make 60-70% of the lifebar go poof.
To be honest thought I try not to comment about it cause … guys … we watched a really incomplete version of the game , A LOT of things are going to change and that includes the super meter gain.
I like the announcement about online play. Here’s hoping they are going to announce something similar about the gameplay.
And it seems now that Sheeva and Stryker are pretty much confirmed. I like Sheeva’s original concept … Striker … meh.
I prefer 3D game play as it was before with side stepping, but I will give this a chance. I wish that Kira can be played with. I hope they will add more to the character select screen for content, because I only have a few old favorites.
There were a couple interesting things I caught from particular tidbits, though they mainly pertain to story-related jargon:
Johnny Cage attained the godlike power in Armageddon? Why do I get the idea that while Blaze was weakened by Taven he ran in and got the killing blow, thus obtaining the prize? Yes, I know it’s just an EGM-written bio, but why would they include that little tidbit of info?
Also, the Sub-Zero in this game is apparently the older-brother. No Noob-Saibot? Well, it didn’t stop Noob and “Classic Sub-Zero” from being in UMK3. Still, maybe Boon wants to rid the MK series of that obscure joke character.
To be fair, the last few games didn’t suck because of the 3D plane. They sucked because of bad gameplay philosophies.
Though, if they get a hit with this game, I feel they should stick with the 2D plane until… who knows?
Ooooh yeah, I forgot about that! That line intrigued me regarding the “throw-centric” characters. MK never really had a character like that. Jax and Sonya don’t count, either(as do the bosses, for that matter). Having blockable attack throws doesn’t make one a grappler in my opinion. I mean, they can make certain character’s throws blockable(or duckable, if you want to get technical), but they need to give unblockable command throws for a few characters in this game. Whether or not they will, will remain to be seen, I guess.
Wow, some good news all around. Really glad to hear that Noob Saibot is not coming back. Intrigued by the “grapplers” as well. Maybe Kano will be one because of his Judo?
