Gotta say, that new Raiden vid has me super pumped for Raiden. EX Lightning Ball (at least I’m guessing that split horizontal orb is an EX) is gonna lead to some god like zoning. And his Torpedo is looking fast. Can’t wait to try him out come April. Hope you don’t have to unlock him.
Same here. I’m glad to see that some version of his “turn-around” lightning shot from Trilogy is back. They really have done the damn with making all of the characters look so fun.
Any way, I’m hoping for either Smoke or Kabal. We already have what looks to be our first glimpse of Smoke in this most recent Raiden video. They might as well showcase him now.
Supposedly Kabal was just confirmed on G4 tonight. Some guys are talking about it on Testyourmight.com.

Judging from the Raiden gameplay trailer and that stage list, MK9 will retell MK 1-3. I always thought it was between 2 and 3 with MK1 stages thrown in for fan service. I’m pretty interested in the story mode now. I mean, its cheesy, but MK lore is the kind of cheese I can get into.

The main story (as far as I understand from what info we’ve got) is that Raiden’s last chance at stopping Earth Realm from being taken over is to go back in time to after the first tourney (MK1) and try to prevent the events that happened from MK2 on and save the universe.
So I think we’ll be sort of getting a retelling of MK1 along with that, and essentially it may be starting the story mode during the MK1 as we know it happened, but then altering what happens from that point on.
But as far as I can tell, the bulk of it happens after what we know about MK1 (they mentioned Liu Kang as being a champion in the reveal for him if I remember right, which would be after MK1).
I know, right? I really wanna try him now!
Seems like he has a crap ton of combo potential. I wonder what the range/start up on his XRay is.
Also, did anyone notice the startup on Raiden’s XRay? Definitely looks lightning fast, lol.

One nitpicky thing about the design is how so many characters have the same looking stance. What happened to subs cool mk1/2 pimp hand stance
