was at walmart tonight and got bored from standing in the lines of hell that is shopping during Christmas, so decided to take a peek at the January OfficialPSN mag. Had some screens and info on Kratos but nothing we already know. One thing that caught my eye though was that I guess they officially announced Ermac and had some stuff on him too.
Took a quick pic of an official art I haven’t seen around yet. http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/5425/imag0103k.jpg
He has a lot more black on him this time than I was kinda hoping for. If they decide to add Noob in then that might bother me having so much black on Ermac but whatever.
There’s a game night every 2 weeks at my college, and I wanted to pound and kill some fools in this game. But it comes out right after what would be the last one of those. At least there’s MVC3.
Cage’s flashkick looks like it’s not even active till its like 6 feet in the air, but that’s to be revealed I guess. I can’t really think of any great moves that will work as invincible DP’s… For example Nightwolfs Upward Axe, I’m sure it’ll have some invincibility once it’s already up in the air, but I don’t think it’ll be invincible from the ground up like a DP.
Kinda unsure what I did wrong. Maybe youre talking about ** “One thing that caught my eye though was that I guess they officially announced Ermac and had some stuff on him too.”** I know everyone knew about him already, I’m just saying they “Officially” announced him.
Which is something that in theory should be great for fighters, but has been spotty in practice. I mean free balance patches are harder to justify than “Zomg new chars for $$” from a business perspective. And even if they don’t cave there that doesn’t mean they’ll balance it right. I mean i’m trying to be optimistic, but dash canceling + combo escape for 2 meter seems to say to me that they already anticipate stuff that’ll be an issue, like TvC, and brought in combo breakers as a failsafe. Of course if that’s the case you can forget seeing EX moves and xray’s used much since a combo escape then becomes a must.
I mean i’ll admit this is all worst case scenario theory, it’s just that MK does not have the best(or almost any) record with these things.
If anything, I’m hoping that more developers will go the other direction. Make everybody broken, or otherwise give them access to the same (broken) tools, and then everything will do more to balance itself out any way!
That’s what I’m personally NR will seek to do more of in this game. Less sweating the details on trying to actively strive for balance, and more on just making sure that every character is actually fun and viable.
