well they missing out. Joe just made a huge upset.
Kung Lao is SSS tier. Pre-patch that is.
EDIT: Was too hype for LI Joe vs PerfectLegend and pre-emptively typed the above. Retracted statement
EDIT: Shoutouts to @Floejisan showing solid Ermac play and adapting on the fly.
Top 4 Street Fighter players blowing it up.
So Joe uses Cyrax, Lao and Ermac? Is there more? Is he a wizard?
I disagree. He is ridiculous but not as insane as people make him out to be. Top 5 for sure though. He is also easy to use so that also adds to his attractiveness.
I don’t think it is/was a bad idea by PDP to make it stick only, especially if they are giving out all the money. It’s not a major, just some publicity for the game and PDP products it seems. Surely they wouldn’t want their own tournament to shoe that their product was inferior and lost to a competitor.
Maybe they should have built some dedicated arcade cabinets with their stick inside.
Yeah my bad for overreacting, was just hype for the LI Joe - PerfectLegend match where he ran it back 3 games.
Floe showing that Kung Lao is more than beatable. Shall edit post now.
Mortal Kungbat again.
Respect for Joe “letting” Justin through without a fight.
You didn’t overreact lol. Even if you did think he was SSS your entitled you your opinion, just thought I would throw in my 2 cents since I see a lot of complaints and OP screams for Kung.
Lao doesn’t have a reliable mid to combo off of which hinders his high/low mix up game compared to some characters. His mid is very slow and can’t be comboed after, rather its more of a tool to continue to add pressure. His teleport is ass if abused and you will get punished. Dive kick is ridiculously unsafe.
He still is an amazing character regardless. He is a character you have to change your overall gameplan immensly which a lot of players don’t like to do… which is why he seems like he is broken or OP or whatever. You have to be patient and FFS block low and react to his slow mid and make sure you can tech throws as well.
EDIT: Also, Justin Wong can make any character seem broken haha.
Nah, I always thought he was beatable. Never a complainer about OPness, ever since Vanilla SF4 Sagat.
Not sure where he could use a nerf, just his character design is good. Maybe less +frames on some moves.
Joe is also UMK3 head.
uhh…they’re not all just SF players. LI Joe, Hugo101, Fubarduck, and Floe all played UMK3 in a tournament at one time or another. PL plays with TB. so, it’s not like they’re all MK complete novices, like most on SRK, who only know how to play Capcom games. all day, everyday.
exactly. it’s a publicity stunt. PDP is just throwing around some cash to promote their products. they’re hardly getting into the biz of running tournaments.
typical for SRK (see Sagat in SF4 or Sent in MvC3).
I honestly think he is really well designed. His spin is punishable but you have to be quick. For me, I love when I play other Lao players and have to react quick to punish, makes it really fun IMO.
Honestly I think he should stay the same, he is a character that is about maintaining safe pressure until they crack for some big damage.
I don’t understand the whole idea of nerfing something thats really good just because people don’t like to have to try and get around it. If it is really really stupid to the point where it is a 8-2 9-1 matchup across the board then yea, broken, fix that shit. In this case, I just think he is really really good and people are too lazy to want to practice how to/when to punish Kung.
Plus a lot of people only play online in MK9’s garbage net code where it makes Kung sometimes impossible to punish, making him SSSSSSSSS++++infinitySS tier in lag.
IMO in terms of pressure I think Johnny Cage is more ridiculous than Kung Lao. Big damage off mids AND lows. His overhead and sweep are both +1 on block, Shadow flip kick can ONLY be punished by the fastest moves in the game. Which means he has a get out of jail free card vs most of the cast. Essentially, he is a character who can push you into the corner in mach 3, big damage off mids and lows, an x ray that makes you afraid to press anything, can’t really be pressured himself, has the tools to get in easily… yea I could go on and on.
Calm down. I realise that they have MK experience - other than Justin. The point I was trying to show was that they were able to adapt to a game that was designed by the UMK3 OG, even though they don’t specialise solely in that game. You would think that there would be a greater representation of dedicated MK players, but that wasn’t the case for a number of reasons.
Also that comment was about why it wasn’t on the front page, not how ‘amazing it is that SF players are placing’. Truth is I was looking forward to seeing more of the MK community coming out to support the scene; not just the usual players SRK is familiar with coming to get fight money. Unless all of the UMK3 guys playtested so were not able to compete.
Yea, kinda weird. Had be buggin’.
Edit: LOL @ “Shoutouts to Kung Lao. Kung Lao is banned in the next tournament”
People will complain about Kung Lao as much as they did/will with Vanilla Sagat, Yun and Yang, Sentinel, DP, Makoto and Arakune.
MK9 wasn’t designed by OG players, just tested. That’s completely different.
And players from other style games adapt well to it because it really doesn’t play anything like old school MK games.
If anything it’s more impressive when guys who have backgrounds in MK1-UMK3 do well playing MK9 against guys who play 3DMKs and Tekken/SC/DOA, games that more directly influenced MK9 than the older MKs.
LMAO, just had a hilarious flawless online. Bitch tried to violate me by mirroring me, I won the first match and he won the second somehow. On the third I just did Ermac’s f+4 as much as needed until death.
As for the netcode ALL my ranked matches have been perfect. My player matches were laggy for the most part and I’m not trying KoTH yet.
Smoke’s are annoying. These guys are so predictable, yet I lose sometimes.
so i missed the stream, is this archived?
and where do i can find the link?
