Good to know. I thought that this might be the case but had to leave today so I wasn’t able to test it out. I was trying to ice clone then walking in front of it at first to protect my behind but that didn’t work out too well.
He’s really good, I think he’s the game’s most reliable zoning character. Noob Saibot cannot zone as much as you’d think, and everybody seems to think he’s the game’s projectile character. He isn’t.
You crazy man. MK4 was garbage.
Shang zoning (unbreakable combo’s) is only half of dat sweet cake called damage, dat soul steal fam.
As for Noob, Idk I don’t have a copy of the game yet for myself, but I asked Tom Brady who he will be using at powerup (iirc) and he said he will be using Noob at some point (iirc) so maybe he place the noobs on the right path to Noob.
hey i unlocked sonyas alt costume, i went into training and selected her and never got prompted for costume select.
any idea how to select it?
Hit Start when selecting your character, it will open up a text box asking you to pick a outfit.
You need to press start to select the character and the option to choose which costume will come up
im one of the few people to think mk4 was one of the better games in the series, and i would have to totally disagree
this is easily the best mk game.
I was extremely skeptical before I got the game, but it shattered all of my doubts. easily the best MK game.
I’m playing Shang Tsung, Kabal, and Sindel. They all seem really strong.
Somewhat agree. What Baraka lacks in damage dealing he seems to make up for in high priority moves that are for the most part, safe. Chop chop is blockable, and I believe Chop Chop is unsafe, so that kinda negates it’s usefulness if the opponent sees it coming. Blade spin seems to be a good anti air, too.
Haven’t messed around that much with Baraka, but I should have a lot more experience against better players soon.
Personally I don’t think Sheeva is as bad people make her out to be. Or even bad at all. Her command sets are not easy to use but have some advanatages that allow sheeva to be creative and ambigues. She’s a character with mind game potential.
I guess i need to see some tsung vids or something… I want to play the guy, but man…
Night wolf seems top imo also.
as everyone has said KOTH is poop right now. cant play against people within 10 miles of me
but invite the same players to a 1v1 and its smooth enough
i hope they can patch it. id like to get lobby action going if i could
isn’t mk9 gona be given a proper forum section with character forums and what not?!
I was asking myself the same thing, I think we have more then enough people that will agree with us.
Most likely no, no other non-Capcom game has got such a treatment. Just make a character thread in here and you are fine.
Decided on Nightwolf, Johnny Cage, and Kabal. Mostly just Nightwolf I think, being Native American myself it’s satisfying taking it to the honkey ninja bunch.
I have some issues with him though, mostly either phantom buttons or overlaid moves. (This will be written as a SF-esque combo, I dislike and am not interested in the crappy Tekken style notation associated with this game).
So BnB I’ve been using: LP, HP, HP, Tomahawk x2, Delay Shoulder Rush. It’s simple enough as a punish and does respectable damage. However, after the second HP when I go to Tomahawk I often get his D,F HP instead. I went into training mode with the buttons on the side on to see if I was just pressing shit to fast and it wasn’t that, still have the issue pop up. Either way I think I will slow dem buttons down.
Oh, and I found an easy way to connect his X-Ray for those interested. Basically the same thing above, except instead of the second Tomahawk into Shoulder do HP or F. HP (Forgot which) into X-Ray. So far his EX moves haven’t be compelling enough to burn meter onto, Breaker is situational for me right now, and his X-Ray is SO good I usually horde meter for it.

WE know the game is great and that’s all that matters. Tell all ya friends.
Strange things I’ve noticed:
- You can only practice one fatality (the other fatalities aren’t an option. You can probably do them but you just won’t see them displayed).
That’s all I can remember now lol. Anyway I haven’t played online yet. I’ll do that once I find my favorite characters. I really like Smoke, Kitana, Kung Lao, and Sonya.
I like Smoke because he seems to be so defense oriented that I’ll need to learn how to to be devastating with his combos to really get a use out of him.
I like Kitana because she has a really fast normals and a lot of options as far as specials go.
Kung Lao is a murdering fool.
Sonya. I like Sonya because of her d, b, 2 stance. I think that is really unique to have in MK (at least to me) and it adds another layer to her ass kickery.
Something to take note about Reptile:
321 xx dash, NJP, 32 xx forceball, forceball, 321 xx slide.
LEARN THIS. This is 45% if your opponent fucks up, and 55% if you use X-Ray instead of slide. It’s not impossible to do, either…just takes timing to get the u2 after the dash.
Mk isn’t a very hard combo game really, it’s based more on timing shit than inputs, patience pays off. That Reptile combo looks fucking brutal, I’d probably play Reptile if his MK1 outfit goes up for sale normally, he gets an Alt UIMK3 outfit, or even his MK4 look.
But yeah, all about DAT NIGHTWOLF right now, man is a fucking beast.
