If this were a family event it would be held at Circus Circus in that shitty arcade with those mexicans swinging around on that trapeze.
Might get more people to show up if this were an 18+ event. Have strippers during pools. I need something to look at while I wait 4 hours in between matches.
Or possibly just every set, each player is allowed only **one **fatality. They can then choose when they want to perform them, rather than it just being X time every single time. I mean, if I fucking body the fuck out of somebody my first game then I might wanna fucking babality that nigga right off the bat. Mindfucked for the rest of the set, STRAIGHT UP.
Those who usually complain about spammed attacks are usually the ones who get caught in such nonsense to begin with. You should already know if you play in a tournament, you play to win. Money is obviously on the line.
If someone gets repeatedly caught in series of attacks that can be spammed endlessly for an easy win, then it’s the losers fault they didn’t adapt their strategy to get around it.
If something works and you can get away with it, then abuse it for the win. There is no shame exploiting someone’s lack of skill. They will either learn to get around it, or stop improving period.
I see alot of kids and their parents at MLG events for Halo and COD. Both are M rated games as well. Ya’ll really think paents would b quick to complain? Its not my event on the line so do what yall want. But i wouldnt think they would mind.
Don’t force the fatality choice to be at a specific time during the match (final set) cause then it’s just predictable and it’ll get boring. Just leave it to where players are only allowed one fatality/babality/friendship/etc in the entire set, but they can choose when to do it, be it first game, last game or anywhere in between.
As for censorship, we could probably just show a disclaimer at the event and on the stream that says something along the lines of: “The following game contains extreme violence, gore, dismemberment, etc and is only for mature audiences. If you feel you would be offended by such images, please exit the ballroom/stream from X time to Y time.”
I agree. Fatalities could give a psychological advantage (even if minor) or symbolize a shit in momentum. They shouldn’t be limited to any particular time in the match, but obviously they shouldn’t be spammed either.
Do NOT censor the game. Fatalities do offer a mental advantage over your opponent. Besides, I don’t remember seeing one mom at Caesars. Also, are you going to stop X-ray moves? Those are very violent. You just need to have a disclaimer and let the game be played the way it is meant to.
PS. Konqrr and I are going to destroy all of you at evo.
I’m in the “Don’t censor” crowd. If the game’s going to be at Evo, the entire game needs to be at Evo. Limiting how many fatalities can be performed, or when they can be performed is fine. They do extend the match, and that time can add up. But banning them outright doesn’t sit well with me.
I’m in the air on this issue… I’m sure there will be an option that can turn off the blood flying everywhere, but you can’t stop X-Rays from doing what they do and those are very violent by themselves. I don’t want any impressionable kiddies seeing all of this, but there can be a disclaimer before any matches are streamed to cover everyone’s ass.
I just thought of something, they don’t necessarily have to censor the fatalities. All they have to do is, at the end of the match when it is about to happen they can just not show it on the big screen, if it is a problem with the audience. Easy enough to change the camera to player faces.
the gore really seems like it should be a non-issue. The tournament is in las vegas, in a casino that has semi-nude dancing in it every night. There aren’t going to be tons of kids around, and before the mk finals begin, an announcement can be made that “the following game finals will feature excessive amounts of blood and gore, parents who do not want their children to be exposed to the simulated violence should take them outside at this time”
The bigger deal is the waste of time. I say leave the fatalities out of bracket play, but allow them for the top 8. It will generate more excitement that way.
You know, I’m almost 30 years old, played the original mortal kombats, didn’t touch the 3D ones, and have played many a M rated game.
I am kinda turned off by the depiction of violence in this MK. It makes me not wanna play the game. Fatalities largely get ignored anyway, but the X-ray moves are a vital part of gameplay and are usually really gross.
I may get flak for being a wuss, fine. There’s a reason I don’t watch Hostel or Saw or something.
I’m in favor of the least offensive option w/o sacrificing gameplay.
