When did Saitsu get so whiny and useless?
Do you want the Honest Answer, or Make Believe one??
When I realized being nice and hopeful was even more useless. Apparently whining is the only thing that people ever listen to.
Besides, people hate me anyway, so I might as well give them a better reason.
With the online in the state it is, the ‘people not buying DLC’ thing will take care of itself. If people can’t play this game online, it isn’t going to stay relevant to the casual public, and the consumer base for DLC will be very small. I believe that MK has until AE comes out, and then you are going to see a significant community erosion.
This isn’t just blanket gloom and doom; I think MK9 was a very good step in the right direction for the series, and even though NRS couldn’t quite get there with the game, better days are coming.
Except most of the casual public, one, doesn’t care about input delay as long as they can spam Scorpion’s Spear. And two, can be easily distracted by Story Mode and Challenge Tower…
never said that was simple, or it was even remotely feasable.
answer to what? i didn’t even ask a question.
Just like mine was obviously complete sarcasm (at least the selling their games back part).
he’s been like that from the beginning, what are you talking about?
…
Anyways, PSN went down before i got the chance to try MK9’s online, how bad is it? like, compare to those games where would you put it?
Tekken 6, MVC3, Soul calibur 4, KoFXII
what im trying to ask is, is it worth trying or should i just sell the 2 “online” codes i have for 8$ each and just not go online?
You used to be cool.
I don’t think you understand, people are are going to buy DLC regardless if you try and protest against it or not. You must be living in Make Believe Land for you to even post something like that in the first place.
I never was. I honestly always sucked. People are just finally starting to realize it. About time too.
Eternal Blaze is right.
It has no comparison because it’s a new level: unplayable even with full green bars.
Full green bars it’s almost like 2 or 3 tenths of delay. I played a friend who lives 10km of me and it was completely a FAIL, then we played SSF4 and it felt like offline.
sorry but this is like the most unrealistic setup for 99% of people. not to mention not entirely the most accurate statement. if you set your console up on your router to run in DMZ mode (if your router doesn’t have this feature it’s a bad router… get a better router) or set up port forwarding it just goes straight through without stopping, on top of that the “stop” that happens is so rediculously small in a router that you wouldn’t really be able to notice… unless you have a bad router.
and if a games netcode really is so bad that this makes a noticeable difference it needs serious work
edit: also, you mention in later posts that speed tests will show faster download speeds when directly connected rather than connected through a router. while that may or may not be true (i can’t say for sure because i personally havn’t tested) online games shouldn’t be sending enough information to use your connections maximum speed (ie. full bandwidth) so that’s like comparing the speed limit on any one given lane that the car needs to drive on and saying “but if you add more lanes that car will get faster” no… it just has less chance of getting clogged in other traffic.
i kid you not, go ahead and test it sometime without the router hooked up.
Ive tested this with plenty of other people before, and they literally couldn’t believe in some cases how much faster their connection ran. Like I said before, the Difference can be Night and Day.
- BTW PEOPLE NEVER PUT YOUR ROUTER IN DMZ MODE, IT CAN REALLY FUCK UP YOUR CONNECTION*******
Also like someone else stated before, while using Port-Forwarding might seem like a good idea, the real truth is. As long as you’re using a router, unfortunately unless you do a Direct Connect from your Modem to you Game Console, it can still cause lag.
If they can, then by all means they should as online play is a big part of what drives sales. A lot of people are playing MK for the first time in quite a while, and if the online sucks, many of these people will not buy the next version/installment or DLC.
Good luck with that, games these days include in their small print that the online is never guaranteed so you have no leg to stand on sadly. These guys know what they’re doing in this regard, just not when it comes to desiging games.
better days based on what? Fool me once…
Who’s going to believe them next time they say ‘robust, fully features and lag free’? Not me, that’s for sure.
I’m not sure they deserve another chance when they can’t even make the effort to communicate with their own forums as to why the online is such a trainwreck. This isn’t just ‘oh well the online’s a bit pants’, it’s utterly and fundamentally broken. For this to be fixed I believe would require a complete redesign of the entire online component, netcode and all. How likely is that?
i never said to put the router into DMZ mode… that would be among the dumbest things possible. i said put your console into DMZ mode. there is a big difference. when the console is in DMZ mode on your router your router doesn’t do any checking on packets directed to the console, it’s basically like having a fast-track.
and in my professional experience i have not seen lag caused by a router, max speed might be lower but as i said earlier that’s DIFFERENT than lag.
I use a router, all the relevant 360 ports are forwarded (if MK uses anything unique, noone’s saying - including their forum mods), MK runs like shit, while post patch Tekken runs fine, SSF4 runs fine as does BB. So how can it possibly be the fault of my router or my internets? Bottom line: the game stinks.
unless you’re one of those guys who thinks SSF4 netcode is acceptable. you can add SF4/SSF4 and the soon to be released SSF4:AE to the list, but to answer your question. i think they all collectively suck. frankly, netcode turds all look the same to me.
again, it’s a turd netcode-wise.
