if i smash my head against the keyboard enough times will this thread go away?

It’s a shame how many people still don’t realize that UMK3 steps outside the MK bad game stimga. It’s the only game that can be taken seriously. All other MK games are trash or unbalanced enough to not look at. But please, MKII? Where have some of you people been?

Ahhh 3D Mortal Kombats…sigh. Asking which is the best MK is like asking which hooker has the cleanest vagina. Sure it may not be oozing an oily liquid…at that moment, or smell as profusely like fish as the others, but the VD is still there, and you don’t want that.

MKII>UMK3.

Much more competitive.(Yeah, it’s possible.)

What if there was a fighting game where you could be George Washington or Paul Revere or King George or Sam Adams or Thomas Paine. That would be kickass, right? I’d pick Paine, that dude rocked, not too many people help start two major world revolutions in the same lifetime by writing. And Washington’s super would be him growing 12 stories tall and becoming made of radiation, and his 30 dicks would all attack you at once.

mk2? lol i guess you guys like your sais, hk’s, and ground pounds

I was seriously about to say that. Why do people constantly spout off about that one being the best in the series, when likely they’ve never even seen it being played at any form of a high or even intermediate level?

Master Bigode is full of shat. It honestly makes me sick to know there are people who actually believe that kind of trash.

High level MKII consists of Jax vs Mileena, Sai Shots, HKs, Ground Pounds. There is very, very little room for deviation. The game is terrible right down to the control itself.

High Level UMK3 has a lot of mix ups, rush down and mind games, far more usuable characters in the top tier. For the top 2 Kabal and Human have a lot of manueverability and the matches are far more entertaining in general. On top of this, there are at least 10 characters who can be used in high level play from the general player base, and a handful of others who have specialized player usage, like unmasked Sub-zero, or even Sonya. Don’t give us this crap that you play MKII in a high level tournament, because chances are, you didn’t.

Best Mk???

Mk Armageddon IS a lot of fun but not the best 3d one IMO.

To me the best 3d and best OVERALL mortal kombat was deadly alliance.

I liked it because it had full 3-style characters, cool minigames, and IMO had the all around best fighting in it.

But maybe I only thought DA was the best because i always ran Quan-Chi or Shang Tsung…hehe

Cosign. Everyone thinks they have played in a high-level tournament until they actually have

Master Bigode: You have absolutely no idea. None whatsoever. And the reason that we can say that is because a million guys just like you have come along and said the same thing. Welcome to SRK.

The most mind boggling thing about what he said was that MKII is a more competitive game than UMK3, even though you have to take away or dumb down at least a dozen universal gameplay elements from UMK3 to get back to MKII. I guess it shouldn’t surprise me since apparently he plays WW, and of course any game that revolves almost exclusively around one character’s projectile placement is top tier.

MKDA looked and played better than MKA. MKA had a lot more characters, but adding crap to crap only makes more crap.

And I’d never claim MKDA to be all that good of a game. But it’s better than the other 3d MKs.

It’s sad really. You expect things to get better with every game. MKDA was the first of the new style, so I almost didn’t mind the problems it had because it was their first try at that style and it was a decent attempt.

But then they didn’t fix it. They made it worse.

I guess I was hoping the MK Makers would focus at least a little on good gameplay. But they didn’t. So I don’t even think MK games other than UMK3 should count as fighting games. They’re just action/adventure games with a heavy focus on fighting.

Just think of MKA as the new Mortal Kombat:‘Special’ Forces

EDIT: lol @ the MK2 love. 2 character games are so much fun!

No, I play ST.
I only play WW to train my crossup timing.

To be fair, we really can’t judge Armaggeddon since we have not seen a complete version.

Apparently, the PS2 and Xbox versions were released before completion. (no Transitions in PS2. Lack of many weapons and attacks for KAKs. Way too many glitches even for an MK game.)

We’ll just have to wait for the Wii version to see the whole thing.

I’ve been playing MK since the beginning. (chant with me: A B A C A B B!) It’s never been my favorite series, but I still like it a lot. I hate its many problems, but I get over them and enjoy what good there is.

The KAK really saved Armaggeddon for me. I did not care for any of the regular chars, but I made some really cool KAKs.

For my other Armaggeddon vids, check out Pages 2 and 3 of my YouTube vids. It should be noted that I try to avoid making cheap chars with uber-powerful combos. Yes, I’ve seen the vids with infinite juggles and 80% damage combos. I don’t care to make a char like that.

Anyways… Back to the original question:

This is my personal favorite MK, but it’s not the best. Overall, it’s a toss-up between MK2 and UMK3. As far as the 3D MKs go, most would say Deception was better.

However, if Midway can fix the many problems with Armageddon for the upcoming Wii version, it certainly has potential to be the best.

I’m curious to how people would compare the 3 recent 3D MKs to MK4.

Recent MKs:7/10;
MK4: -100/10

Well alright, there we go.

Yeah, MK4 was pretty good. My only problem was how everyone was basically the same char with different-looking Special Moves. Giving everyone the same exact basic moveset is one way to balance the game.

EDIT: Oh wait, I just noticed the minus sign before your 100. So, you really didn’t like it. Oh well, I still think it was one of the more-balanced ones, which is otherwise MK’s main problem.

i think mk2 is so much more fun to play as long as it’s not a jax/mileena fest. i just prefer the slower pace compared to the hyper running of mk3

Dude…this is a SF forum. This game doesn’t belong. Go take that crap back to…

Wait…this is a general fighting game discussion thread. Never mind.
