as long as im raiding i can play wow all day…cant do that with dota.
if you dont enjoy raiding then i guess wow isnt for you, since thats almost all there is to do end game. dota isnt fun unless you’re playing with friends, but i play wow all the time in a different (and not as good) guild than EVERYONE else, and i still have fun.
the only thing i agree with poeta on is the fact that the ques to simply get into the server are fucking retarded and that shit needs to stop. however more often than not, i get into the BG in less than 20 mins so i dont know where all this " i gotta wait for 45 mins in IF" is comming from.

ps. i tried playing dota a few weeks back, and to be honest, the game is SO boring. for 20 mins all you do is click the mouse a few times till you lvl up, unless you’re playing retards. in wow, battles are a lot more than just “click click stun click”.
Ive waited 2 hours to get into BG before so thats where the 45 min thing is comming from. I just tossed out a random number. Even waiting 20 min is bullshit to start doing something. WoW is clearly a much MUCH better game and if I had to pick one game it would be WoW. I’m just saying I dont know if its worth paying for now that I cant play as much and I’m sick of the end game content that is out. Like I said I’ll keep playing till the 14th and see if i wanna renew my account or not. WoW is good cuz you can just go on and fuck around while you shoot the shit with your buddies. The only reason I like dota is when we are all on vent and talking mad shit. Thats the best. I basicly only go on dota now when I dont have time for WoW or I dont wanna raid. I’ll most likely be on WoW tonight though if theres a raid considering I have nothing to do… unless people wanna go out and do something :S

poeta, i totaly understand what you’re saying and i sort of agree. dotas nice to play when your boys are online and you dont have 2 hours to spend on wow. because lets face it, if you’re on for less than 2 hours, the most you’re getting out of wow is 1 or 2 BG runs, tops.

You cant even really compare WoW and dota. WoW is a game Dota is not. DotA is a fucking 2mb map within War3. I’d bet it that if someone wanted to make a real game out of dota and create different map settings, about 500 new items it’d destroy anything. DotA is confined to the boundaries of War3, WoW isnt bound to anything except Warcraft.
Also one thing i noticed about WoW. You build up your characters and find sick gear. . .then create an alternate character. I know theres a level cap and thats probably why you guys have alts, but its kind of pointless. Its like you spend all this time with a slim possibility you’re gonna get an item you need. This is why I’ll never play the game. Its stupid and time consuming and nothing comes from it. WoW is the least appealing game I’ve ever seen to be honest. I thought Diablo2 was more gangster.
What are you guys saying? You’re comparing an mmo and a custom map for a strat game. You’re calling dota repetitive and not WoW? Mmo’s are based on repetitiveness. I kill X mob, get X exp, get X quest, either kill a bunch of shit or walk somewhere or kill a named NPC and get certain number of exp, repeat. Raids are even more stupid, you fucking raid for hours on end just to get an uber item so you can be cooler than the other people of your class on the server. WoW isn’t even a good MMO based on oldschool ones. WoW also isn’t based on skill, the best WoW players are life scrubs who farm for items/honor so they can get rank 14, get an uber item, and rape anyone else. WTF, you’re telling me in order to be the best, I have to be a lifescrub and commit my life to a game? On top of the fact that half of the MMO population are complete utter faggots, why would I chill with random dude ill never meet over a RL friend?
At least with DOTA/marvel, I don’t have to waste my life to get good or be able to compete at a top level. I can have a job, have sex, do other things then come back and compete, whereas with WoW I have to raid to get dkp so I even have a chance to get good items, or farm for hours on end to get gold. How much time did you guys invest in your char to get level 60? I guarantee, I could get good at a random game in not even half that time. MMOls boil down to life scrubs who have no responsibility, that can play the game all day, so they can stay on top.

i find dota boring when theres no1 to play with because thats the only thing that makes it fun. if you’re playing against an actual team of friends (lets pretend they arent on vent) then your team does not have a fucking chance unless you also have an equal number of friends on your team.

edit: isaac, im stuck on an operation in trauma centre. i have to remove several tumors from some guys small intestine (i think) and thats fine and dandy. i kept him stable and removed the tumors with more than enough time to spare. the problem is after im done, the assistant tells me something like “now that the tumors are removed treat the incision” or something. i used every tool and i have no idea what to do. help

NOTHING! the point of the fucking game is entertainment for the amount of time you play it for. Watching tv u just watch, u get nothing (unless its educational). I have time to post my reasoning right now because I’m sitting in a WoW queue of 730 people so I’ll have an hour to type this out if i want.
To be good in WoW or to compete with the “good” players, you have to invest much more hours of game play than to something like dota. You guys think that the reason I dont play wow much is because you get nothing to show for it at the end or something? I dont play wow because of 3 reasons
Tonight I stayed in to raid cuz I wanted to give WoW another chance. I waited to raid for 1 hour to find out I couldnt even get into the raid because they didnt need more than 3 rogues for the nef fight. Then my girlfriend called me and said lets get together and I actually considered saying no because I wanted to stay home and raid. Thats when I said what the fuck am I thinking and I logged off and went out to do more important things. WoW seems to take over my fucking life and its too addictive to me. Once I get into it I cant stop playing it.
The most fun part about WoW to me is PvPing. I wanted to PvP like mad when you guys got back into it. Then with the queues to get into WoW and the line ups to get into battlegrounds, I had no way to play that in the few free hours I randomly have each night. After 6:00 for the past 2 weeks, logging onto wow takes 30 min+. It takes about 1 full hour to just get into a 15 min battlegrounds fight. So the fact that it takes so long to start doing what I like stops me from playing the game, I cant play it.
Say I invest the time into raiding and I get all the shit I want after months of raiding. Sick, I’m l33t now and I got awesome gear and I can fuck anyone up. My only problem now is what do I do next? I have 1 option and that option is to PvP. I already explained why I cant PvP seriously. So when I was saying that you get nothing out of WoW and its stupid to invest so much time into it, thats what I’m talking about. In WoW you actually have to fucking work to get good items then you have nothing to show for it. In Dota you dont have to work for anything. You dont spend 293847529 hours to get good items and then say “durr wtf to do next?” and shit. The fact that I might have played dota for a long time and have nothing to show for it as well has nothing to do with what im talking about. With dota I had fun playing the game since I logged on day 1. I didnt have to work to have fun then get nothing in the end.
You guys all said that to me when you were hooked on dota and I now get it. I didnt really even think about it before but its so true. WoW is the biggest fucking waste of time ever for people that dont have fun raiding (aka me)

Even though you guys are cannuck <3’s, you’re still wrong. WoW is a terrible game, and i probably have more dota hours logged than most of your WoW characters put together, but dota’s been out for a couple years.
I still stand behind my statement that MMO’s are just bad habits. It just sucks up your life. I dont think you guys would disagree that without putting a LOT of hours into MMO’s upfront and continuing to put those hours in is what makes the game fun. That sucks though, cause thats all your free time. And until they make an MMO tourney, i dont know know if i could ever call them really competitive. At least in DOTA/MVC2, shit any FPS/strat/fighting/pretty much any type of game besides RPG’s can be competitive. I’ve mad money in both DOTA/MVC2, but never in my years of playing Meridian 59/UO/EQ/Asherons call/Dark ages of camelot/or any MMO have i ever made money. I dont see how i could call playing DOTA/MVC2 a waste of time when i’ve actually made money playing them.

i see what poetas saying, and its true to a degree, but it depends what time you log on. ques durring the weekday start around 6. so for anyone who had a fulltime job that doesnt start at 8am, you’re screwed and are going to have to wait in line to play on any good/decent server. however, BG ques go really quickly. more often than not i wait 10 mins or less to get into AB as long as its between 5 and 10. AV is another story, ques for that take an hour minimum.
now, while you could say "zomg its all wasting time anyways"which is true, on wow, YOU’RE WAITING TO WASTE TIME…WTF IS THAT???. i remember when i used to spend more time sitting around in IF doing NOTHING.

And for me, WoW really doesnt take that much of my life, everyone is level 60 and has been for time, im level 36 and prob never reach 60. But i find it very entertaining, i just dont let it rule me. If i could attend ANY social engagement, even a casual, id rather do that instead of playing WoW. Any comp game should only be played when u have nothing else to do, not replace what u normally do.
