Only just now watching the Yanbanpaku stream, did I realize that Ibuki can link two low shorts together. Awesome, a low confirm.
Also, could anyone inform me of the heights/distances in which different strengths of SA1 are safe/unsafe? I don’t believe this is documented at all. I imagine there would be some situations in which a few pixels could make all the difference.
Random notes… I think I’m going to start trying to do an EX tsumuji with only short and forward instead of all three kicks. That way if I mess up I’ll still get a combo, getting close forward into roundhouse tsumuji by accident sucks arse. I swear the hardest thing about switching to Ibuki is dealing with her shitty throw range. But she’s still so awesome. Soooo much to learn. <3 <3 <3
This is just a few matches of me having fun. Obviously it doesn’t always work out like this.

Also the whole WAH thing makes sense now. I thought you were just putting the noise a baby makes into your post for some reason.
Ibuki throw range blows ass and her kara is pretty useless too. Doesn’t stop me from using throws an asston tho, haha.
All I know about SA1 safety is that if you don’t pump your extra kunais out and don’t do it at max jump height or higher, you’re generally very safe. I don’t think I’ve ever had my own or seen anyone else’s instant air LP SA1 punished outside of being parried either. Anything from like Hugo height and lower is generally pretty safe tho. Outside of a general statement and anecdotal advice I got nothin tho, haha.
You may want to ask DevilJin about it, tbh. He knows an asston about Ibuki, werd. Idk if he reads the character specific forums any more tho.
Good ideas Marble. I had one idea to ask about if I remember it.
Like earlier with one low short, you can SA3 if you would be crazy enough to use that more often. Or like Elena and Makoto, even crazier, or by knowing it will hit, do a Jab Raida off of it. Damage is not really there, but to break momentum and maybe used after side switch gimmicks once or twice as another option when you have them confused. All said and done, it may be a bad idea and a 2nd opinion should help you find more to do with that. Maybe just 2 low shorts into QCB+LK Spinkicks blockstring? How was it used on the stream matches?
I’m interested in how far EnvyMask took Ibuki as his main until he went to Japan. Did he play a few games as Ibuki in Japan and how did he fare, and why did it force the switch to arguably “greener pastures.”
Maybe I made that noise when I challenged Niji and was declined as she instead played some other newb Ryu and beat that karate kid up with White trenchcoat Q. Maybe I’ll message my GGPO name, not wanting it out there in the public of onlookers, the GGPO weirdo mean girls chat full of AFK spectator catty people, nobody is even talking to you… getting all up in the A<->B conversation.
In the stream last night (Well last night for me, probably not for you) an Ibuki used SA1 at a fairly low and close range and was punished by Remy low short xx flash kick. I honestly can’t tell yet what strength SA1 was used just by looking, I lack the Ibuki experience. Still good info, cheers.
I’ll do just one low short into EX tsumuji or jab raida but SA3 is easier to punish, plus all that bar… A long time ago I went through a stage where I would do low short xx super with Alex whenever the fuck, and while that kind of uncaring attitude did scare opponents, it was just too inconsistent. I love to gamble but there are smarter ways to go about it.
I think low short xx jab raida is totally great though since it’s the only way Ibuki can get damage off a low short when she has no meter. Well, besides low short xx DP but it’s easy to choose between the two. In the stream matches the low short, low short link was just used at point blank multiple times. A lot of the times I saw it, it actually wasn’t followed up, probably execution errors.
Oh, yah, you probably challenged me while I was playing with one of my buddies from my website. We have like 3-4 guys who play SF almost daily (mostly AE, but two play 3S too) and about 5 other guys who all want to start playing SF or are noobs at SF. I managed to get those new guys/noobs to give 3S a shot, so mostly you’ll just see me messing around with them while I try to teach them basics.
The problem is sometimes they don’t wanna listen and practice and instead just wanna fight, but they’re used to AE where they can do silly things and still win the occasional round and that doesn’t work in 3S. It makes some of those matches look absolutely idiotic. The amazing thing is they’re willing to do like 30-50 matches like that in a row, even though they lose all those matches pretty badly. I don’t remember using Q, but then I tend to just pick random ass characters whenever I play friends anyway. Also, ignore anything you see me do when/if you ever see me fighting bigpants on GGPO.
Anyway! Just PM me your GGPO name and I’ll be sure to fight you whenever I have free time. I won’t tell anyone who you are!
=3
Ibuki stuff. I mixup cr.LK into Tsumuji pretty often honestly. I don’t really do any kind of geniune hit confirm off it, tho. I mostly just look to see if they are doing something first and then just input the Tsumuji if it looks like they’re doing anything besides recovering from a quick move or if they’re doing nothing. I use EX Tsumuji instead of regular Tsumuji if they’re in a corner. It gives me the ability to hit them low for big damage sometimes, since otherwise I can only Tsumuji off of high hits. Only works on people who actively try to parry in the corner sometimes tho. Otherwise they’ll just downback and stuff, haha.
I’m pretty bad, tho, so I wouldn’t really copy me. Hahahaha.
EDIT: I will go back and watch it later tonight to see which version he used. If it was MP/HP that would explain it. Did she maybe do it while they were in the corner and she was right on top of them?
EDIT #2: I just realized someone might think that I meant I combo from cr.LK into regular Tsumujis cuz I wrote it all funny. I just use the low short to bait them, you can’t actually combo into any of the Tsumujis besides EX.
Right, from what I managed to watch of the YABANPAKU, an Alex there was risky and overwhelming when he ran in and Low Short Super’d Chun!!
Sure, I think GGPO is better by using a buddy system and going in there with your friends. It feels like a very 1 vs 1 challenge mode atmosphere sometimes with many loud onlookers, rather than an open lobby with taking turns. And my in-game chat is broken (names “who 1P vs 2P who” above the characters HUD too) so I’m forced to chat with the room chat only which is better off not looked at sometimes!
“Big + pants” huh, similar to coming across some Ibuki cosplays over here when I’m looking for something else completely. A figurine of Ibuki in her Endings school outfit even came up, including the kunai ridden bookbag and a toast accessory. Toast, accurate ninja food.
