Minimizable / Resizable "Recent Box" + IMPORTANT color change demand

  1. The RECENT NEWS/THREADS box is WAY, and I mean WAY too big. Below that is even some commercial. I’m here for the FORUM and not some random other information about news or recent threads I ain’t care about. I barely see the first sticky when I enter a subforum. And it’s TEDIOUS to scroll EVERY time I visit the forum… So please make it resizeable (only show 2-3 entries or sumthing) or let it be minimizable or an option to turn it off all together.

  2. and most importantly, and has to be done with UTTER URGENTCY: When a new post was made within a thread, make the font not only BARELY bold, but also change its COLOR [blue, grey, sliver, red for all I care]. I’m zoomed at 125% on my browser, and can’t see ANY difference (or at least not by a quick glance).

Guess which thread has been visited and which not by a quick glance…
if this doesn’t get changed I won’t come back on the long run. No point in visiting If i have to compare the friggin dates every time >_>

I don’t have your problem with the colors. I see the difference fine after new posts.

I agree about the box though.

the problem is there ISN’T any color. it’s from black to bold black. but as u can see on the screenshot, it’s BARELY visible when u zoom.

Either way, the problem must be on your end because it’s very distinct on my browser. Plus there’s the triangle/arrow next to unread thread titles.

tested on inet 9 aswell as on morzilla. same result. again, it’s due to the ZOOMING. nonetheless, a slightly different color shouldnt be to hard to implement. old srk had also a different color next to a VERY bold text.

Collapsible would be much appreciated. Did making the news images for the slideshow get old?

Then is there any chance it will go away altogether? Maybe it’s just me but I just don’t see it being all that useful. The left box is all front page which, if I’m interested, I can just click on the home page link or the names of the articles appear on my facebook/twitter feeds from you guys. The right box just has way too much traffic to be relevant in my opinion. Just a thought but personally I don’t think we need anything up there.

Zuuku: I zoomed in 130% and I still don’t have that problem. Weird. I use opera btw.

Gonna agree with this. It just seems to be more trouble than it’s worth and taking it out makes an already packed forum look less cluttered and likely saves on bandwidth/computing power as well.

+1 for the “option to turn ot off”. or change the layout to be much much smaller. 2x2 entries. but only the recent news - like above poster mentioned - forum is too corwded to have any use for a recent activities box.

mabye it’s your opera browser, or the resolution of my monitor, or the fact that it’s a LCD monitor, dunno. but without zooming it’s bearable, but still wanna have a colorchange. =/ this just spoils any fun.

Totally agree about doing something with the Recent box. The left section is redundant, and the right section is likely never going to be useful to the vast majority of posters. I live in Florida, why should I care that there was a recent post in an Arizona or Maine thread? I’d think that the chances anyone will ever see a topic they’re interested in pop up there at any given time will be quite low. At least the previous news slideshow looked decent, even if it was somewhat redundant to the main page. This new thing feels like I have a pair of forced twitter feeds that I don’t want stuck to the top of every page.
