Was experimenting the other day. Found a 1.09 million corner combo with Chris/Spencer. For GCYoshi, this would be an excellent B&B. Plus, it’s meter positive. I’ll get it up next week guys.
Also, I didn’t do so hot at Summer Jam. Went 0-2. Both sets were 3-2 as well. Here’s to hoping that The Fall Classic goes better.
i saw you play live. i always get hype when a chris player makes a showing. you definitely could’ve gone farther. the combos you were doing are the ones bruno should be doing. bruno’s combos are fancier but net less meter for around the same damage. and with strider on your team you’ll want that meter.
some things you did with chris way too often i think. you ground magnum a lot wiffing it most of the time. you did it against anybody and almost anywhere. you also have tell for when you’re gonna call haggar. you simply sit there and wait for him to come out and react. from the moment you press the assist button you can backward wavedash twice then forward wavedash down medium for the confrm if haggar hits all within that time. or my bersonal favorite backdash twice, neutral jump shotgun. its also a much better idea to confirm with a down medium than a launcher since its quicker has a larger range and recovers faster if wiffed. there were a couple of times when a dropped comb meant a wiff normal that was punished and it costed you your chris.
keep at it with that team. it’s a really good point chirs team. just lessen the mistakes and your strider has v room for improvement. you definitely could have made top 8 at that tournament.
i’m also thinking of picking up dante with chris and sentinel. what team are you considering?
Thanks. I also wanted to give you props for those incoming mixup ideas. They have been serving me well for the most part
I’m just going strictly with Chris Dante Strider. I do miss lariat but that team makes the most sense at this point. I’ve been playing Haggar a lot but he really needs a better assist to work with than vajra. I have been heavily considering Chris Haggar Dante but (1) My dante is still newborn and I’m not sure I could ever trust him as an anchor and (2) no long range assist for Chris means I’d have to keep a lot of pressure on offense or block a lot which isn’t always the best idea. At least I’ve played Strider back in the day but I really need to step my anchor game up.
Oh and a couple of those ground magnums were missed flame grenade inputs I always seem to have a new analog to work with when I get a new pad for tournament. This one actually worked better than most I’ve used before but a lot of my inputs were worse on Day 2. I’m working through it. I do get greedy for magnums to hit since a confirm leads to so much damage and can kill in the right situation.
I do need to throw some shotguns in, I always forget about it! I tried chipping a friend out with it the other day and missed like 5 times.
Rambling. I might post the Unknown match in here and painfully break it down.
My only problem with jam is that hitconfirming is a pain in the ass imo, off a grounded version you can just get more damage by using mag or smg, if their in the air its harder to time the magnum to confirm, that and chris doesnt have a viable jump loop so you have to use your bounce
I’ve worked on jam confirms up close in training but it is very hard to land in match. You just have to time when to jump after jam knocks them back. It’s true if you’re too far that the magnum doesn’t work at most heights so I just throw grenades out or even use meter to make them block more stuff if I know they can’t punish. It’s never a bad situation when they’re full screen away from you.
The damage after confirming jam session definitely SUCKS (even with Strider combo extensions at the end) so I usually snap afterwards.
I think it’s worth it for the amount of chipping and keeping away it gives you, also good corner lock down.
normally what i do is use the jam to land the flamethrower launch down launch mag flamethrower extension, other than that i just use it to make space so i can start throwing grenades all over the screen. Anyone have any extensions or set ups with zero’s ryujein or vergil’s rapid slash
Rapid Slash is a tricky assist for Chris to combo off of after a relaunch. If you’re already close to the corner and it’s early enough in the combo then the flamethrower will work after the slash hits.
thanks i was working on something that might work for it but i guess it doesnt cause of the property of rapid slash.
Went to one of our locals over the weekend and wound up going 3/2 in it despite crippling nerves screwing up my everything.
Ah well, if anyone wants to see me get blown up just check the link and hit to about the 36 minute mark.
when you pulled some of those incoming mixups it really got the commentators hype. the fact that a good point chris team has incoming mixups that can kill without much meter to start with and without using xfactor keeps chris viable! another mixup you should try if there is enough time to set it up is to throw a grenade then hard tag in haggar and call strider assist.
if i were you i would stick with this team. it gives chris a very strong neutral game against almost any team, touch of death combos, good incoming mixups, and a very good xfc comeback character. you just need to get better with the entire team and make less mistakes. if you had controller issues then that is the more reason to stick with the team since you did really well even with those problems.
on another note don’t do brunowizards combos. otg, lariat assist (i always dash forward after this for both timing and position), flamethrower, S, sj back S, magnum, vajra, flamethrower (with the dash forward after lariat assist earlier there is no need to dash forward after the otg magnum), grenade… should always be your go to combo if all assist are available. it is easier to do, builds more meter because of the multiple flamethrowers, and because haggar is being used early he’ll recover red health if you need to dhc into him. and for the most meter possible before a snapback you can opt not to cancel into the grenade launcher super and just dash forward otg pistol into snapback. i cringe every time i see bruno go for flashy combos but i guess his combo is his identity…
watching clockwork’s strider has also inspired me to play with this team so i’ll share any new tech that i find.
For one meter? If so, that’s very good. If you’re spending two meters though, you can get 1.2mil meter positive easy if you DHC into Spencer instead.
I do like lariat a lot and I do miss it in some matchups but I’m not a big fan of Haggar left with just Strider. It’s kinda like Vergil/Strider where you need to waste xfactor to get anything good from it but then Strider loses his biggest asset. There are better second character options and Dante works well with Strider in general so it makes sense to give that a shot. I’ve been having mixed results.
And yea I’ve been doing that combo for over a year now, I wouldn’t change it.
Talked to Senor Taxi. I can now get 1.1 Million by adding Combination Punch M prior to Sweep Combo. I’ll add that sometime later this week.

@chris d
do what ever suits you. i just feel like learning dante is much more trouble than it’s worth. and with strider assist you don’t really heed an assist that covers the air. have you thought about doom with shield assist. it comes out faster than jam session, you get the the same exact combo extensions, and strider and doom also work well together.
imo i prefer dante to help chris cause jam is just a huge wall of a hit box which really helps keep away and prevents spamming dooms, granted strider can do that to but dante has more health and people dont actively try and snipe the assist. Only prob with jam is you need to know when to call the assist, but you do get some good set ups on incoming and defensive against air opponents

yeah i was refering to chris d’s team as a whole. i don’t think you don’t need both jam and vajra and if you’re gonna have vajra you don’t really need jam. and i suggested doom because he works really well with vajra and is much easier to learn than dante. but jam with chris is great on any other team.
I don’t really like playing Doom but I can make it work if I wanted to.
The thing is, Dante gives the team other benefits that I simply can’t recreate with Haggar or Doom. Easy full screen super, safe DHC (well Doom is pretty safe but you get a mixup right after grenade launcher into devil trigger), birthday confirms, Strider assist + teleport mixups and so on. Just seems like a better route to go, even if Dante is a bit weaker overall.
That said, I’ll consider going with missiles at some point. I’ m always changing it up.
I did a discussion on Chris with Darchon awhile ago. Instead of just tiering him we went over 10 attributes and scored him. If you guys are interested check it out and the other characters with done so far.
Anything i could maybe add to this?
