Exhibition matches caused problems when they started to interfere with tournaments. Some people would say that the tournament results didn’t matter and start handpicking exhibition matches and using those as a substitute for consistent tournament placings, that was when it became a problem.
Tournament placings still can’t solve everything. Maybe you want to see what coast can put together a better team, so you make a 5v5 exhibition. Maybe two players have something to settle between them, so they have an exhibition match. There is a place for everything, and I don’t see a problem using the right tool for the job.
Well there aren’t many Chuns period.

I also respect gootecks’ decision to not partake in an event like this, because hype doesn’t go nowhere outside of the states, and we want to be beating Japan, not each other imho.

I’m so sick and tired of all you fucking noobs trashing on 3rd Strike like it’s some kind of abomination of Street Fighter. 3rd Strike is deeper than all of you and yes it’s sad to say that none of you will ever be good enough to understand why it’s that much better of a game then anything else.
Fuck all of you guys who even dare to talk trash on 3rd Strike. Last time I checked, which probably none of you did, the top players in SF4 right now are also mainly 3rd Strike players. So why don’t you guys run it back on how 3s forgets the fundamentals and is such an “easy and random” game.
SF4 is trash. It’s the shittiest game since Clay Fighter. Bunch of turtling and mashing. Never before have I seen such a shitty game. I’m surprised that anybody would think about making a game where 90% of the comboes start with jab, and how running away rewards you. Fucking scrubs everywhere mashing throw, and ridiculously stupid frame advantages on moves.
Where the fuck is your god of fundamentals now? Oh please talk trash on me to make yourselves feel better. Let me give you some material. I started in 3rd Strike, play Chun Li, and my whole game depends on parrying. If I couldn’t parry, I would never win.
And now I play El Fuerte and I still own all you fucking noob mashers left and right. Nothing feels better than when one of you fucks mash out a “reversal” “psychic” shoryuken and I infinite your ass in return. Oh wait, that’s kinda like 3s, where if you do something stupid like a fucking shoryuken will make you lose half of your life. But it’s good to know that you can still mash out other moves and I can’t do anything.

i think the point is, dude seems to think mm’s arent a good idea, and its not good for the community, but i think that argument has a poor foundation, and couldnt stand in a solid debate. some would argue mm’s have given the community more hype and life, giving people more incentive for wanting to be the best. aint no one getting stabbed, or shot over mm’s. so in return, some people feel, whoa there guy, i know you do your podcast and shit, but dont get to hype, and dont talk to much shit, cause you was just selling edmas guide for 9.99, and it wasnt for any true funding process to my knowledge. on his podcast it was more of a just doin it because why not, i might as well make a little bank on my hardwork.
