Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

I don’t like the way a lot of the combat that we’ve seen follow a shoot>shoot>dash pattern.

Also I don’t like how it looks in the slightest.

You remember the DmC thread? You remember Fez? You remember any game that tries to be the least bit “cinematic”? it’s pretty much that all over again, the developer has done/said some shady shit that left a bad taste in the mouth of gamers (myself included) so that coupled with the generally knee jerk judgmental nature of gamers and you have the perfect storm for a game that some will deem as trash regardless of how good it may actually be. Now granted some people here like Exodus genuinely don’t like what has been shown so far and are not preemptively biased against MN9, but judging by the vitriolic posts here and in VGG I’d say people like him are the minority, while the rest pretend that they ever gave the game a fair shake, it’s very difficult for many gamers to separate their feelings from any attempt at objectively judging a game although whether we should do that in the first place is a different conversation altogether lol. Some of these guys are not quite rational, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if someone here will interpret this post as some sort of “defense” of Inafune/MN9.

I’ve been pretty meh on MN9, until that new trailer especially since like Exodus the run dash mechanic didn’t seem that appealing it reminded me of the Gunvolt demo which I didn’t like too much, I think a lot of people are turned off by how simple and blocky the art style is, and part of me understands because personally I prefer the more aerodynamic, angular, form fitting aesthetic when it comes to robot games like Zone of the Enders and it’s certainly less appealing then say these early concepts shown below, which while not indicative of final game play was still something to strive for in the minds of gamers and the actual reality is just so different obviously that it turned off people who were already sour on Inafune to begin with. That being said the new trailer is excellently colored I absolutely love the vibrancy of it all and it looks like it has an actual emphasis on platforming now just run right and shoot so now I’m cautiously optimistic.

Quite the opposite… people started off pretty hype for MN9. People couldn’t wait to piss on Capcom. It’s the actions of Comcept as a whole as well as what’s beginning to seem like a highly naff game that’s turned people off. That’s not at all irrational. What would be irrational is if someone were to continue liking the game and Comcept even after all the BS.

I never called anyone irrational, just biased, look at your own post you say it would be irrational for someone to like a game that is not out yet and Comcept after the BS as if the game and the developer are package deal so you’re proving my point for me lol, but yeah you’re totally right about Comcept pissing away their good will/Capcom hate advantage they had going for them that falls squarely on their shoulders.

I’m not a fan of EA’s business ethics, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the high quality games they publish anymore than I let the guilt of slave labor stop me from buying a smart phone, I guess some people are better able to compartmentalize than others. Oh and obligatory:

Mn9 was like that pornstar everybody thought was fucking gorgeous in the era of 480. In till you see her in 1080i hd

how

People gave this man $4 million US Dollars…

You guys are retarded if you ever thought the game was going to look like that gif. Even that image above it is only concept art. No excuse for it doesn’t look better than it does, though.

Cuphead looks like that, and it was made with FAR less than $4 million US Dollars.

***FOUR

MILLION

US

DOLLARS.

Plus backing from another publisher… There’s no excuse for that shit.

Wasn’t that gif fanmade or something?

Yes it was.

Which is why the end product is even more embarrassing.

$4 MILLION.

Pleeeeeeaaaaase don’t continue down this route. I really don’t want to have to explain the obvious things wrong with these comparisons.

phantom stop being a tool for once.

Can’t help it when people are running around with loose screws… :coffee:

Ok no fan made stuff, just 2 very recent in game screen shots, both are kickstarter games one got over $4,000,000 the other got $57,000 and yet that drastic backer difference is not reflected as one can reasonably expect, its pretty cut and dry to see that comparisons are valid.

Would anyone be happier if MN9 went with high quality traditional animation instead of 3D? I probably would, then again I’m probably the only one who thinks MN9 doesn’t look that terrible due to vivid colors, I think they were trying to do what Sonic Lost World did.

I backed MN9 a pretty significant amount and I am really excited for the game. I generally don’t listen to other people’s opinions on video games anyway because everyone takes In everything differently. I especially don’t listen when the game isn’t even out yet.

In the end the opinion of who bought game/helped fund it > someone that didn’t.

Opinion of a sucker greater than that if some one who isn’t?

I don’t think that’s how it works. Of course I’d be stupid enough to give money if mn9 was legends.

That looks a LOT like the beta white city from Mega Man X.

Honestly, until you get the game, you won’t really know where things went. Pointing at the stage and saying 4 million dollars is just inept trolling. This assumes that the only money going into the game was from the 4 million dollars. They already had investors int the company as well as partial work done before they did the kickstarter. So its probably closer to 6~8 million. I understand its kotaku and all but:

Take some time to consider how much developing a game costs. There are some games that, looks wise, this is vastly underwhelming compared to previous gen efforts; other this is a lot more lively than. Its been some bullshit how backs have been treated because of SJW bullshit, but until the game is out, its hard to say that the money was squandered. It may appear that way and could end up panning out as such, but we definitely do not know.

This game was made by 1 dude alone.
