All this “Fuck Capcom” noise is silly. Y’all acting like Capcom doesn’t make 2D/2.5D games anymore or something. Only “Fuck Capcom” thing about this is their lack of supporting Mega Man in any meaningful way while its original creator fills in that void.
SRKers please. Capcom be putting in work. Did Ducktales not just come out a few weeks ago? Is a new Strider not coming out next year? Was Bionic Commando Rearmed not the junk?
Anyway, I might throw $100 at Mighty No. 9. At the very least $20. This project, even though it’s gonna take like 2 years should be totally worth it. I just hope that the “modern” sensibilities mentioned in the video means level design that isn’t strictly horizontal or vertical and offers enough reasons to return to levels besides finding armor upgrades or grinding for screws. Not that those things are bad but for this game to make an impact it really needs to innovate in those regards. I think perhaps remixing enemy layouts, adding actual objectives and opening up new areas might help breathe life into the levels.
Forbes magazine routinely lists Scrooge McDuck on its annual “Fictional 15” list of the richest fictional characters by net worth:
2013: #1 with $65.4 billion

If I have access to $65.4 Billion I am not giving it away. Well I invest the $900,000 to what KEIJI INAFUNE needs…
(note Tywin Lannister has more money than C. Montgomery Burns)
I am still salty that I don’t have a spare $5000 to design one of the bad guys,
I normally hate the idea of Kickstarter and you only need to look at a few of the more controversial projects to understand why but I’m glad that this is happening, if only that it may set a precedent.
Waiting on the “Bring back Bullfrog Productions” Kickstarter.
It’s highly possible that they’re improving on Mega Man the only way I know how. By requiring you to use your auxiliary powers to complete stages. In older Megman/X games, using these abilities were not necessary for most of the game. Hopefully, you’ll have to be a little bit smart this time around. Given that the game is being made by Inti Creates, the same people who made the Zero and ZX games, it should also be sufficiently challenging.
Early kickstarters like Broken Age and Wasteland 2 reached like about one million less than 24 hours after being launched. The goals for those weren’t anywhere near close to the one this game is asking for.
Some guy paid over $10K just to have dinner with this motherfucker? I can’t wait until he posts about it on the internet and then Inafune hits up Twitter to blow up his spot saying, “Goddamn mouth breather just gawked at me the entire time.”
I looked it up and Wasteland to was asking for the same amount ($900,000). It ended up getting nearly $3,000,000, though… I expect close to the same result with M#9.
If this takes off this might fuel other former capcom employees to start their own dream projects. I wouldn’t be surprised if Inafune becomes a powerhouse in Japanese games by attracting talent and using crowdfunding and revenue to create great games that they have always wanted to make. Fans and developers working hand in hand to create games is pretty much the future of this industry as triple A titles and big blockbuster ones start to be fazed out in the near future.
