Mighty No. 9 - Keiji Inafune's Next Mega Man

When you’ve put down over a hundred dollars, because this project was close to your heart (some folks I know), this is really going to suck. I just don’t believe in anything funded through kickstarter after all of the promises and disappointment. Sucks to see it handled in this way.

I think people are being to quick with pulling support personally.

It’s their money so they can do what they want with it. I wouldn’t my money to pay for her salary

wait, why is this bitch in this game???

why is she even working or near this fucking game…

why, why are they hiring inexperienced shit tards to design, why???

Any of you that approve of this, I hope you get ass fucked with a 12 ft dick and die of bleeding And if you happen to like that, I hope a fucking horse or whatever the fuck you find repulsive to fuck you to death…

I think people are overreacting. I’ve read comments where people want to set up a petition to get her fired. It’s not their place to decide who gets hired/fired, it’s Comcept’s. Do we really want to go down that road?

She has no final say on anything, she’s basically just a consultant and it’s a good idea to have a variety of input. This situation could have been handled better but acting like petulant children is going to help nothing.

Yeah, that’s totally overreacting and not getting the point. Hiring someone who’s completely talentless, tactless, ignorant to Mega Man games as a whole, indifferent to the wants and needs of the community, and putting them in a visible position isn’t by itself going to ruin a great big project. But it’s more likely that it’s symptomatic the culture over at Comcept. Nobody here really knows, but given the way other developers have squandered the fortunes Kickstarter granted them in the past and produced nothing despite raising several times what they initially claimed to need to make a game, my hopes aren’t high.

And demonizing her isn’t right, I would take the jobs if offered and despite being a massive fan am likely a worse candidate. Like I said, it’s a symptom, the problem is a corporate culture that thinks that’s the way things should be when clearly the investors do not.

If it was my fuckin’ money, and I found out I was paying her salary, I’d be pissed. So yeah people can do what they like with their money, they can be wrong to victimize her directly, but when you seek outside investment to create your project what do you expect? When you do something like that, you’re beholden to your backers. It’s bad form to take their money, then treat them with disrespect and just blow their cash. But it seems like that’s far more the norm with these projects.

These guys ain’t just fans. They are also investors. Don’t blame these guys for acting the way they are particularly those who put big money in.

Who is she again? Is she on Anita levels of feminism?

The kinds of behaviour that are on display can kill Kickstarter and crowdfunding altogether. I don’t want people who make whimsical, irrational decisions to determine the fate of my product/employees. People are basically panicking over nothing. Obviously, Comcept saw something in Dina to hire her; something that nobody else can see or want to see. Do you really think the vision of the game is going to change in a way you don’t like? What does it matter if she hasn’t played the MM games? I would imagine people are going to go to the forums expecting to talk about Mighty No. 9, not Mega Man.

You can pull your funding if you want. But don’t complain if you learn that the game can’t get made anymore because of some irrational fear. We’ll just revert back to not getting the games we want.

I dont mean to be a dick and I apologize if this comes out the wrong way:

but thats yall fault for pouring in hundreds of dollars on a project that has a questionable direction \

so does she have any input on the overall production of the game? can she make executive decisions on the progress of the game? does she have any control of how the budget is spent?

if the answer to the above questions is all no then calm the fuck down yall (not you Cheap_Scrub in particular)

The answer to all that is nope.

If she has no real say besides talking to the community about whats happening then who the fuck cares.

Not getting the game you want made is the norm, as opposed to paying to not getting the game you want made with crowd funding. And past that, for a lot of people in those backer forums, paying several times more than what you’d be expected to pay for any retail product. Marginalizing and vilifying gamers for not being progressive enough is a reason we aren’t getting the games we want actually. It’s why shit like DmC exists, and fans are told to suck it. So it’s not really an issue of just being a boy’s club like it’s being portrayed, it’s about compromising for people who aren’t invested in the project already.

Where’s the compromise?

I get the impression that they could have found a more favorable face for the community manager, like someone who had a love for the game before ever looking for the job title. The community likely wanted a diehard MM fan (regardless of gender) in that position and assumed one could be found amongst there own masses. She effectively claimed nepotism was a factor.

She’s just not the community manager that the community wants; but time will tell if she is the community manager that the community needs. Her limited MM lore outside of X series doesn’t make her selection as community manager a compromise if that was not a factor they were looking for either. I’m sure she could wikia as much knowledge (if not more) for a post as I the average forum goer she’ll be managing.

#No, I’m not pulling out.

Having her, with her art, and her intentions to switch things up in the genre as a character designer. Including folks who don’t have a clue about character design or the legacy of the projects give their two cents to blandly homogenize a game’s art direction in the aim of updating it.

It’s great that DmC was talked about earlier, which is why I gave that example. Capcom themselves are recently famous for taking a much loved franchise and just following any fucking gaming trend of the moment to the alienation of their core demographic. That’s the compromise, not getting talented people, not getting passionate people, hiring people who are clearly bad at what they do just because they seem a bit more like where the mainstream has been headed.

Now, I’ll agree fans often don’t know what they want until it’s shoved down their throats. And sometimes giving people too much choice and too much say leads them levels of dissatisfaction they’d otherwise not have. But sometimes, it’s obvious that the powers that be are completely out of touch with the fanbase and clearly don’t give a shit.

Well shit, there goes my hopes for that game. I may be surprised and it may turn out alright, in which case i’ll likely forget to make a retraction, but if it doesn’t suck, consider this post void.

I both dislike this new team member AND think people are overreacting.
