since it’s your tourney it’s your call. I won’t care either way. I was just trying to present a way to make it a more balanced tourney. Since you don’t play the game regularly you won’t get why and no explanation will make it clear. It’s something you have to experience. You’ll never be considered a really good pf player if you only play as akuma. That’s something everyone left in pf community would agree to. When the only reason a player can win b/c they’re a certain character seems unbalanced to me.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m just trying to interpret what you wrote in your last post. I know Akuma is supposed to take 120% damage as his downside, but were you trying to say that, say, if your opponent breaks say a 4x4 power block, and Akuma counters it with a 4x4 block, he will end up negating the damage instead of taking the 20% overflow?
pretty much. The person negating always sends a little less. That’s what keeps ppl from doing mirror matches. So you’ll never negate a 4x4 w/ a 4x4. Akuma gets the full credit cancel. That’s why alot of players think of that 20% is a joke at times.
Accusing me of not knowing the mechanics of puzzle fighter isnt the best way to appeal to me.

Im not trying to be appealing to you. You stated last year that you don’t play the game online much and refuse to buy it. It not having a colorblind is bogus based on the nature of the game. So I’m not questioning your knowledge of the mechanics(its pretty basic), I’m stating you lack the experience to understand. Top players don’t soft ban characters just becaused they are considered the best.

I’m going to bring my ps3 regardless but you said you wouldn’t give me a discounted fee b/c i refuse to leave my system while i’m not there. based on the fact that ppl had to hunt down my sf4 disc last tourney i was at and the recent theft posted on the srk homepage it should seem reasonable why I’m hesitant to leave my system. But like i said before its your tourney so its your rules. akuma being banned or not is not going to sway my decision to enter if i’m able. i’m just trying to help you balance the tourney out.
Alright, let me just say that I know what I’m talking about when it comes to Puzzle Fighter and Puzzle Fighter HD.
Banning Akuma is stupid, straight up. He’s the best character in the game, yes, but not by much. By that logic, you should ban O.Sagat in ST.
High level PFHD comes down to Akuma, Ken, Ryu, Donovan, and Chun Li, in that order.
I appreciate the input from everyone, but Im not the type to ban without real solid proof of gamebreaking stuff. The only character you saw in OG Puz was Ken like 95% of the time, and the fact is that, in a puzzle game, it doesnt really matter. Im not going to ban him.
I’m also certainly not going to money match you in a game I dont play more than twice a year. I used to play it 5 days a week (the OG version), so I know the game well, and I’ve placed top 2 in every midwest puzzle fighter tournament ive ever entered. I have nothing to prove, so a MM is pointless. I’ll gladly play you in tournament or for fun. I enjoy fun.

As for whether or not Akuma should be banned, I don’t really care. I don’t think any of the three of us (I don’t know about anyone else) are going to use him any way. Jala, if someone uses him and beats you 1 round, then just pick Akuma for rounds 2 and 3.

oh yeah keits i wanted to ask if you were gonna update the pre-reg list any more. more people have pre-reged on tz in the past week or so
With the event a week away, I do not think I’m going to update pre-reg anymore. Pre-reg was for planning purposes, so none of that data will really be used during signups the day of.
I urge as many of you as possible who will be there friday night to come down to the ballroom and register friday night instead of saturday morning. This will save everyone a ton of time.

Quick question, Keits at DBQ BBQ in 09 you made up pools for which characters would end up placing in a few tournaments (characters people, not players) and that was a lot of fun. Any plans to do so again here?

It WAS fun, but it need to be computerized to be efficient. I simply do not have the time for this. So unles someone who can code wants to help me throw together a PC version of this, it just isnt going to happen.
