I don’t know why you’d upgrade to something you don’t need. If your comptuer is running fine on 7, 8 or shit, even vista (which mine is still on) then why get rid of it?
That being said, I’m at least gonna upgrade it on one of my PCs, as its system drive is a 40GB SSD and with Win 7 on it, I got like, 9GB of free space left. Win 10 promises tiny footprint. I’m all for that.
Installation took so long, but it’s on here. Best part was when I was finally allowed to sign in, and as it’s setting up my stuff, it says:
And then after a while it says:
Also the installation somehow bonked my GRUB bootloader, so now I can’t get into my Linux system, as it crashes into a shell due to a disk ID being invalid. Well played, Microsoft. I’ll fix that shit later.
But so far, so good. Doesn’t seem much different than Win 7 at this point.
You probably don’t. It’s not a complete wipe-and-install, just an upgrade. Everything I have installed is still there and works, including the drivers for my GPU and mouse.
New start menu gonna take some getting used to tho. Alphabetized program list is a plus.
It’s concerns like this regarding a need to reinstall that I have a hard drive dedicated to Steam, so all I have to do on a reinstall of any kind is reinstall Steam to that drive and everything will be there.
I’ve decided to cancel mine, I’m gonna wait a couple of months whilst they iron out all the bugs lol.
I read in an article today that the Ctrl+C command didn’t work and the day 1 patch was 1gig
