…I don’t have a problem with the Xbox games. I think they’re great. Hell I’m playing so many of em that I can"t even finish em. PS2 is cool, I have a pretty good size collection of games for the PS2 that I like and will never get rid of. The Game Cube is prolly my least fav. The only things keeping me from tossing my GC is Naruto2/3, and Mario Sunshine. Mario Cart is ccol but not as good as the one on N64 IMO.
…I’m definitly not a fanboy. IMO nothing beats the PC so far in online play. I’m one who tries to enjoy all systems.
Anime? I like very little. My fav toons right now are JLU and The Batman…both mostly U.S. products, at least the heroes are.
No offense Mike, but as far as the XBox 360 being an american product, I highly doubt that. Bill Gates may be from here but thats about it.
The Xbox360 may be assembled within the states, but the parts will come from Japan, Korea (Samsung) and Malaysia. Bill Gates is no fool. He will save money on parts buy hiring asian companies to provide the parts for his new systems, why pay unionized workers in american factories $18 an hour when he can outsource to Asia at $2 an hour? Higher profit for him and Microsoft…hows that for pro-america? No, your Xbox 360 is gonna come from the same part of the world as your Ps3 and Nintendo Rev.
I come from the Atari generation, one of the few machines that was developed and built right here in the good ol’ U.S. only the chips might’ve come from the east.
Thats probably my problem, I enjoy (space) shooters and 2D fighters…both a dying breed. 1st person stuff and 3D Ninja stuff I’ve looked at does not excite me at all. I’m strictly 2D. Sammy’s 2D fighter The Rumblefish is on its way to my house I guess thats the only thing thats got me excited about a new game.
So you guys go ahead with your Tom Clancy and Halo shoot to kill and 3D ninja games, I’ll just chill for now.
(BTW, most of you probably think my sig is an anti-Xbox joke, but it actually came from a pro-Xbox fanboy site when I was reading up on the new system.)
I feel the same way you do,Whats the problem with even trying to see something outside of a (JAP product) being number one,Or even having an advantage/possibility of being the BEST!!!
Anyway I am A XBOX fan boi, grown ass 24 year old one!!! that shit is great and the fact that there hasn’t been ANY COMP fro sony TILL NOW is even better.
Only thing I know AND THIS IS A FACT the STRONGEST console (in terms of power) has NEVER won the battle.Still it will be interesting to see if sony can break that streak also,Still good shit mike and let me know if I can come drop this 150 on that xbox (360) PEACE
From what I’ve heard, the edits to the Toonami version of Naruto won’t be horrid, they’re not calling it “Doppleganger Technique!” and shit like they do in the manga, and they’re only editing blood that flows from the body, not like…the scene where he stabs the back of his hand when he gets poisoned.
Also, the DVDs will be uncut. I just hope the voice acting isn’t horrid.
I never said anything about the Japanese being the best at making videogames, but they do make good games. I’m not implying that anyone said that I was implying the Japanese should be the only ones making games either.
What’s the story on this xbox you told me you were doing, it’s been a week past your proposed time; I got a socket waiting for it that could be going into one of these boxes that also needs it.
Alivegas and anyone else who cares about the Sega Saturn game Dragon Force. They’re remaking it for PS2 and most likely bringing out the 2nd one as well. It has remade cutscenes, music, but the graphics are the same.
I’m tellin ya, it’s the best anime I’ve seen in a while, definately on my best ever list.
I love the Cartoon Network version of One Piece, it has the DVD feel, it’s more colorful, and a lot less edited than the 4Kid’s version. I like the series in general, like I posted a while ago I watched some of the Crocodile Arc(110-120) and the story is really serious and the fight scenes are great.
As far as U.S. cartoons I gotta go with Robo with Justice League and The Batman, great shows.
Naruto will keep all technique names, and character names in Japanese. Thank God I will not have to hear “Shadow Copy Technique”. Instead I’ll Hear “Kage Bushin No Jutsu”! Viz is doing the voice acting for Naruto and it is confirmed that the guy that plays Spike’s voice from Cowboy Bebop, and Mugen from Samurai Champloo is in it. I hope he plays Kakashi’s voice, that’s the only person it fits cause all the characters are like 14, I can’t picture him even acting as a teenage voice.
I loved the N64, I loved the Cube, and I loved the game boy advance. Nintendo still makes sweet ass games, I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. They seem to be focusing more on multiplayer games now then they did back then, and that’s fine. I mean, look at some of the good cube multiplayer games.
Pac-Man vs
Mario Kart(network+team race=amazing)
Mario Power Tennis
Zelda 4 swords
Godzilla
Smash Bros Melee
Beach Spikers
F-Zero GX
Starfox assault(even though single player was kinda weak, multiplayer was sweet)
If you’re importing you got those naruto games, you got puzzle collection, you got other crazy shit. Nintendo home systems, I’ll agree on this, have shit for 3rd party support…but really, at this point I don’t think anyone gets a nintendo system for anything but their first party games. I like their franchise characters and game lines. It’s not as though nintendo doesn’t make anything new, either. I mean, Pikmin, Nintendogs, wario ware…all franchises that just popped up in the last gen. Custom Robo, Animal Crossing, Advance Wars, and Fire Emblem are all jap franchises that finally got brought over. Also, yugioh isn’t Nintendo at all. I think it was pretty clear, what with there being a YUGIOH GAME on the playstation. You worked in a game store, I would have thought you’d have seen it.
MS doesn’t have to worry about money for themselves, but they’ve said many a time that if the 360 doesn’t turn a profit, then they’ll just leave the console market. Hell, they’ve been saying that since the Xbox came out. Sony, on the other hand, has sunk so many resources into the Cell and the blu-ray format, that if they don’t get over with mainstream computing and storage, respectively, that chances are they’ll have to close down the game line entirely.
Quite honestly though both american and japanese developers are in a rut right now, due to the high costs of making games no one likes to take risks anymore. Maybe it’s why most of the new games I get tend to be simpler, arcade style games rather then expansive FPSs or platformers, but I’ll be damned with some of those release schedules. There’s like another splinter cell coming out this year! You can only improve on that formula so much, at this point it’s plain it’s getting milked. Yet a high-quality game like Beyond Good & Evil bombed entirely. Speaking of which…
Robo, check out Beyond Good & Evil. it’s on all 3 systems, so if you need a good Xbox game, go for it.
Anyhow, it’s not like I have a problem with working within a genre…it just gets old. American developers are doing too many FPSs and GTA clones, and the japanese are doing too many 3d platformers and RPGs. it’s not all they’re doing, but it’s a good chunk on both sides.
The first system out doesn’t always win, either. Remember Dreamcast, or the Saturn? Or those other 32 bit era systems like the Jaguar? Or the Turbographx? I will say that the 360 has a leg up on the bulk of those in that it’s already got good 3rd party support lined up, and the biggest new franchise in the past 10 years in Halo…but it’s got stiff competition.
On an aside, we all know the japs like to play VF4, Alpha 3, KOF 2k2, and guilty gear…but seriously, I saw people playing WORLD HEROES PERFECT.
