MICHIGAN MASTERS - (East Lansing, Michigan) - (12/12/09)

Welcome to the first ever MICHIGAN MASTERS tournament!!!

PARKING INFO: The best options are the two parking lots in front of North Hubbard and South Hubbard halls. To get in there you need a parking guest pass, which costs $6. You can buy passes at the front desks in South Hubbard hall (left of North Hubbard) or Akers hall (right of North Hubbard). There are also meters on the streets all around here, but they’re a little pricey at $1.50 an hour, which will end up being a lot more than the guest pass unless you’re only staying for a few hours. Your call.

The location has been updated. Take a look in the When and Where spot in this post. Also, check out the attached file to see the bracket for the exhibition tournament!

What
Michigan Masters is a Michigan regional tournament. As well as regular tournaments, there will also be a special single elimination exhibition tournament where the top 8 players in the state will face off against each other, winner takes all! I want this to be the best MI tournament yet, so bring all your friends, tell everyone you know about it, and get people from out of state up here!

When and Where
The tournament will take place in East Lansing, Michigan, on December 12th, 2009. It will be in Classroom 130 in North Hubbard Hall on Michigan State Campus (http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=Hubbard+Halls&geocode=CQTV_9vMchWJFbvmiwIduDL3-iG9AkRyVKS-fg&dirflg=&saddr=&f=d&dq=Hubbard&sll=42.723385,-84.463698&sspn=0.019673,0.038418&ie=UTF8&ll=42.725373,-84.462976&spn=0.006999,0.01929&t=h&z=16) The doors will open at 11:00, and the first tournament will begin promptly at noon. If you are late, you can still be placed in an open spot in the bracket, but there will be a $3 penalty.

Entry Fee and Prizes
There is a $5 base charge for all tournament participants. The money from the base charge will all be added to the prize pool for the Michigan Masters Exhibition. In addition to this, each game you enter will cost an additional $10. The game money will go into the prize pool for the game you entered. The prize pool is split 70% to 1st place, 20% to second place, and 10% to third place for that game. If 6 or less people enter a game 2nd place will get their money back, and 1st place will get the rest.

Rules
No button macros, no pausing, no turbo. For game specific questions, PM me.
Each tournament will be double elimination format. If 5 or less players are in a tournament it will be round robin instead.
SF4, BB and Tekken 6 will be seeded according to the Michigan Rankings. Players from the same town will be separated in all tournaments, so you won’t have to fight your friends right away. All tournaments will be 2/3 games. Winners, losers and grand finals will be 3/5. The Exhibition will be 2/3 for the first round, 3/5 for the second round, and 4/7 for the finals.

Exhibition
The Michigan Masters Exhibition is an 8-man single elimination, winner takes all SF4 tournament. The top 6 players from the Michigan Ranking Battles will automatically be invited. The two remaining places will be filled by the best placing players in the SF4 tournament on the day of Michigan Masters. It is likely that the top players in the tournament will already be invited to participate in the exhibition. If this is the case, the top two players who aren’t already invited will be allowed to join. If a player in the top 6 can’t make it to the tournament, an additional spot will be opened up for players to qualify on the day. The first place player at the end of the Exhibition will be given all the money from the base entry fee ($5 per person), and possibly some extra money if I can find some. GET HYPE

Setups
I need 6 xbox setups, one Dreamcast set up, and two ps2 setups. A set up is the console + a tv + at least one of the games. If you bring a set up, and tell me before hand that you’re bringing it, I will waive your base fee for the tournament. If you can’t bring a set up, at least try to bring a copy of one or two of the games. I need 3rd strike, Marvel and CVS for sure, and extras of the other games would be fantastic.

Perhaps I can schedule a visit to my friends in Michigan in time for this. I have always wanted to check out Michigan’s Guilty Gear scene.

Yesssss

Edit:

cooooool

Oh shit, I fucked up. HDR added.

I can bring a 360 setup with Tekken 6, BlazBlue and SF4, Aaron.

Got ya.

Make this shit a new Wid-west major, please, lord knows I’d love to have a major in MI. haha

Majors are a lot of work, lol. We’ll just start with a little regional thing and go from there :stuck_out_tongue:

I am definitely in for CvS2. Possibly HDR, even though I’ve never played it.

Nice. I’ll be there for sure.

I can bring a 360, HDD with HDR, SF4 & BB discs, and possibly a TV. I’m looking to find a good deal on the Evo monitor right now. If I get one in time, I’ll bring it.

Cool, cool. If you don’t find a tv in time partner up with someone else who has one, then only one of you will have to pay the base fee (or you can each pay half of one.)

I’ll be there fo sho

i’ll bring a Cvs 2 setup Game and system.

Everybody else can bring a fence in need of a paint job.

Once I get ahold of another PS2 I’ll be set to bring a full setup + Melty. Might be able to get ahold of the other PS2 games if more copies are needed - I hear CvS2’s kinda rare.

I’ll bring my copy of CvS2 too, for purposes of redundancy.

Cool, I can bring GG. We still need 3s.

Kk

What up Aaron. This is Chauncy Talon from GRAPSF. I can say that a majority of us will be coming to the event.

Excellent. If any of you guys can bring xboxs let me know.
