When people say “skill” they of course mean “the ability to not blink, and move your thumb quickly” not “the ability to think.” Not that RPGs, with their 2 dimensional storylines, and lame, reusable plot hooks and effects are Dostoevsky works or anything.

Whether or not people are buying a game for live is not relevant to if the default for human interaction is via computer or via meetings. It also makes the whole “Who would want to play a game against a lot of people, when you can just get your high score on a board?!” argument even more ludicrous. This is 2004, not 1984.
The sad thing is that most of the fighting games nowadays are so analyzed and unbalanced in their stratifications that most people end up using the same teams/characters/combos as everyone else who read the faq/forum for it that you might as well just compare numbers on it.

There’s thousands of people in the US like that. The default for the game is clearly playing other people, and that’s what Live does. Is that so fucking hard for you to cram in your ego-filled brain?
Fighters were always that analyzed. I’m pretty damn sure back in the day of World Warriors, anyone who wanted to compete played Sim or Guile. Word of mouth and BBS/chats were the big thing for passing info around in those days, just read up on a few of the early history threads around this very forum. No, what you’re complaining about bandwagon players, which have existed, again, pretty much since the beginning. They want to win, so they pick what they know works. Whether or not they have the skill to pull it off is another story.
Robo-how the fuck do you beat the last boss in stage 2 of gradius V? Theo ne that shoots out the electric walls and pulses energy through em…I can’t destroy the cores on the electric wall prongs. I thought about using my Options to hit it, but that just got me killed.
I can’t tell you a good strategy yet, I’m still trying to devise one…heh. I get killed a lot by that one also. The last ship that send out the strands of pulsing energy…;.dodge, shoot dodge shoot…have lots and lots of options…and perhaps a shield.
Raper won most of the games but at least I finally overcame his Potemkin…beat him a couple of times with Faust and Slayer. Joe is multi talented with Axel and Dizzy…Henry 's Robo-Ky iz deadly.
Hell yeah, he is 90% of their offense. The other 10% is the center because he snaps the ball. But f*ck it. Let him do his thing, that’s how they got so far in the 2003 season, almost to the Super Bowl. What it is, they are trying to engrave the “west Coast offense” into him. They wanted him to stay in the pocket and just throw like every other quarterback, that’s not him. Vick can do that…and more, he can get about 50 rushing yards every game, maybe even 100 like last game. But my fear is that he’ll get tired out. In that case he then will have to depend on his accuracy as a QB. But he was what 14 for 16 in completions last game??? I really hope he keeps this up, and inspire his team to step up too.
I love that everyone is consiering the Lions a contender this year all over the sports news. A lot admit that it would take till at least until next year, self included. But when they play the Eagles Sunday, that will be the real test. The are 2-0 but they played the Bears and the Texans, two teams they should have beat. After Philly it’s the Falcons, possibly 2 losses. As long as the Lions win all the games they are supposed to, like against Green Bay and The Vikings who they both play twice(I see a split), They can beat the Giants, the Cardnials, another win against the Bears. That’s 7 wins and maybe they can muster up 2 upset wins in their games against: Dallas, Washington, Jacksonville(they are on the same level as the Lions this season), The Colts, and The Titans. With a schedule like that they can come out 9 and 7. Even if they don’t make the Wild Card I’ll be happy with them and look forward to seeing them do better next year.
There is my “Post that is worth something” for the month, now back to the usual bull that goes on around this forum.
I can, I mean, head to head competitive games have existed since the dawn of video games in general. But high score competitions are no less intense. I remember coming in 3rd for one in the game Thrust for the atari 2600, and, beyond like Halo and starfox 64, I don’t think I ever got that intense into a game.
For something that’s not head to head, I got a different, but still awesome, rush from the competition. So you can’t discount them as worthless.
Which reminds me, Gradius V is having a high score competition on their site. it ends in a couple weeks, so I should really step up and see if I can get a worthwile score.
I think I found a good way of killin that boss…when it shoots the energy streams straight, you have to move up when the energy wave is moving towards the stop of the screen…you have a few seconds to get some good shots into the prong. Same thing for the bottom prong, but in reverse. Those cores, thankfully, don’t take much damage to destroy. That boss-athon is rough, though.
Resident Evil 2: Apocolypse, though a big upgrade from the first movie, was still a bloody pile of trash that I wouldn’t even find worthy enough of urinating on.
