Curious to know if there is an updated chart of divorce rates in the us. The one I saw a while back was tell around the mid 2000s. My parents, who still believe marriage can work as they are still together told me that the divorce rates have actually declined over the last years. But when ever I hear someone talk about their marital life, its mostly about cutting ties, going through counciling, trust issues to the brink of starting the process, and being unhappy with their significant other. My last job, over 95% of coworkers had marital problems or divorced. And its not just where I worked either, I hear it at the local race track, and acquaintances.

^y’know, I think the relationship between men and women, generally speaking…is doomed to fail most of the time. There just seems to be a natural tendency in any relationship for people to start going their separate ways; growing apart…like perhaps the human race wasn’t truly meant to be in life-long intimate relationships like that, aside from familial ones (*in which you kind of have no real choice) like parent/child or brother/sisters/cousins, etc.

Leykis occasionally brings up some stat on his show --he’s quoted the source before but I forgot… it’s also been mentioned on several other shows that there’s now more unmarried people in the U.S. than ever before…so people who are currently married are apparently the minority at this point. (*which might also explain a slight decline in a divorce rate, if less people are getting married in the first place.) More and more people, at least in this society are questioning the point of it all…like “what benefit does this bring to me?”.

Someone showed me some data a while ago that I think was for like 2014 and it showed that marriages have greatly declined in the US. I wouldn’t be surprised if divorce rates go down as a result.
