Almost forgot, Stream of Passion released a new album

A War Of Our Own

I’ve had that Supuration album from a couple months now. Very weird and somehow cool, but it hasn’t clicked.

Another classic track from another classic band: Exodus

Lyrics

[details=Spoiler]When the missiles are falling, and the reaper comes calling
You had better kiss your ass goodbye
Atomic detonation, mass immolation
Without a warning, all your memories will die
So try to relax, face up to the facts
You’ll either die or the fallout will rot you in your tracks
There’ll be no tomorrow, only pain and sorrow
’Cause our futures in the hands of a raving madman

They spend all their time building missiles so people die
What kind of life do you expect for us to live?
We’re angered by fear, because the time is near
When some lunatic will finally pull the plug
And forever after, you can hear the laughter
World’s being plastered by an evil bastard
Exterminating faster, devastating plaster
Fabulous disaster
Now you can see, what this all means to me
When the bomb
Comes falling
Down

Now the reaper has called, but do you have the balls
To sit there or stand up and fight?
Try to make a note, it’s your right to vote
To keep these fucking assholes in line
It will always be the same 'cause they lie in their campaigns
Promise through their teeth for total world peace
So we know it’s not the truth, they should call Dr.Ruth
On how to give the people the real big screw

They spend all their time building missiles so people die
What kind of life do you expect for us to live?
We’re angered by fear, because the time is near
When some lunatic will finally pull the plug
And forever after, you can hear the laughter
World’s being plastered by an evil bastard
Exterminating faster, devastating plaster
Fabulous disaster
Now you can see, what this all means to me
When the bomb
Comes falling
Fall Down[/details]

Paul Masvidal and SeanReinhart of Cynic confirm that they are gay…

So that confirms that “The Philosopher” was aimed at Masvidal, after all, hmm

I don’t care that they’re gay, but I can’t help suspect this public coming out is an effort to make some money.

I felt the need to hear some good prog trash

I know what you mean, there are songs that are actually cool but others feel kinda meh in some parts, still an interesting album, i think that with a little refinement on the formula their next album can be very promising

Not sure if you guys listen to this kind of Metal, but…this band has been my shit in the lab for the past few weeks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&persist_app=1&v=t6-KrAylctw

It doesn’t sound bad, though is not really metal, is djent metalcore, i ommit the prog part because there is not a single band that is djent and not progressive at the same time

Edit

You should give a listen to this, is similar to the band that you posted

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZNsUSgndR0

Yup, even moreso after the snorefest / flop that Kindly Bent to Free Us was.

Yeah, Vektor fucking rocks. Speaking of, i have forgotten about:

Geadom`s favorite / essential metal albums, vol 5:

ASPID - EXTRAVASATION

Just one year after the fall of the Soviet regime, these guys from Volgodonsk, Russia, deliver this fucking beast of an album, lost in history due to being released in a very bad moment for metal and their country.

Do you like Atheist? Vektor? Death? Destruction? Obliveon? Coroner? Early Atrocity? Then this is absolutely ESSENTIAL. Not only these ruskies delivered a really fucking diverse tech thrash album, but they do it with their own personal imprint, letting you know since the first moment this kicks in that this is an 100% unique and original album:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqKCWSy_-Ck

The bass is so high on the mix your ears will ejaculate. And the bassist manages to keep with dem riffs, that shred so fucking much lumberjacks wished to be this sharp. The drummer (main force behind the band) also is a fucking beast, with some fills that rival Lombardo’s (!), the drum god itself. Also, demonstrates that octopus people indeed exist: in fucking Russia of all places:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4v1Dl8moAw

I haven’t even talked about the mindblowing, speedlight soloing, the tremendous coordination between the band members, and the vocalist, that sounds like an imp high on coke one second, while on the other delivering skull-piercing growls, and some shrieks that are going to rasp your fucking soul, no joke.

Do you like tech death? tech thrash? Just plain ole kick ass-pounding metal? This is for you. The album has a 2007 remaster that clears the production a bit, and also speeds up the tempo by a notch, but dont worry, both versions kicks infinite amount of ass. Dont sleep on this guys, i heard this around 4 years ago and im still hooked like the first day.

don’t start that bullshit.

Is not really bullshit, Metal and Metalcore are 2 different things (their musical structure, etc), now if you are raching that with my coment that 1 was better than the other, well, i don’t know what to tell you

Geadom bringin the hidden classics to other web sites m/

I’m just gonna leave this here…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSFWOwNfZd4

“hey guys, this subgenre is completely independent from its implied surgenre because it lacks elements i like and/or has elements i don’t like in it.”

L.M.A. fucking O., did i ever said that i don’t like it? Perhaps i am one of the few metalheads here who genuinily likes Metalcore and its subgenres.

Also, Metalcore is not a subgenre of Metal, is a subgenre of punk. Think of it as a convergent evolution, Metal comes from Hard Rock and Metalcore comes from Hardcore.
They share elements, but also have a lot of differences that warrants them being differentiated from each other. It is the same reason why no one says that Iron Maiden is Rock & Roll, even when technically Metal comes from Rock and Rock comes from Rock and Roll.

Metalcore doesn’t share the same musical structure of Metal, the rythm compositions are different on each genre, for example.

Yes, i take very serious the music categorization.

i love you, but the second anybody uses the phrase “it’s not metal” towards a subgenre gets spazzed on because i don’t want it to turn into the previous thread where dumbasses started getting mad at others for posting things they didn’t like. one moron even went so far as to propose that every subgenre needed its own thread on here.

that’s some ol’ racist bullshit.

Perhaps the problem is that you got the vibe that i am dissing metalcore when is not my intention since i only try to point out that metalcore and metal are 2 different things.
The reason why i made the distinction was because he said “this type of metal”, it is also why i named it with middle name and last name too, in case if he wanted to hear other bands with similar sound like the one he posted

Also, you have already saw the amount of flack that i get for liking other stuff besides Death here , or seen my posts about stuff like Animal as Leaders, Tessaract, I am Abomination, Mandroid Echostar and Art By Numbers who happen to be Metalcore or a weird mixture of Metal and Metalcore :coffee:

Yeeaaaah, I am going to have to stop you right there. You took the time out to talk about half the roots of metalcore while ignoring the other half that it takes influence from. A bands alignment within a genre (especially a subgenre in which they can exhibit scant traces of one trait, but just enough of it to warrant its position there) is more of a sliding scale than an on or off switch.

Whereas Bands like… Converge:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89STRv9_0Ys

And The Dillinger Escape Plan:

Wear their hardcore roots on their sleeves, you can turn around and check out bands like…

August Burns Red:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXi3ufLYAT8

Killswitch Engage:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSVlgO0S3Dg

Which still ultimately fall under the umbrella of Metalcore, but are much more rooted in the metal side of their execution. Of course, you could just handwave this and say that the above two bands are Melodic Metalcore and thus, aren’t the same thing but at that point it is just going to go in circles.

TL;DR: The genre name has metal in it for a reason; no matter how pedantic we want to get with definitions you can find traces of the genre it hails from. Just post up some fucking music guys
