Then again, Kojima has always done the different perspective narrative where we see Big Boss’ not really the villain we thought he was in say Metal Gear 2. Big Boss lost a quarter of his life being in a coma, he had to kill his Mentor, had the government view him as an idol when he didn’t want none of that, lost Mother Base, etc. David and John have hard lives. We even see it with Zero, he’s not really that bad after listening to The Truth Tapes. He made a huge mistake for having Donald Anderson make the Patriots AI and making Big Boss a father just because he was addicted to The Boss and Big Boss. But in the end, he truly cared for Big Boss and loves his James Bond movies.
