You cant really get a good grip on the series based on Ground Zeroes alone. So much context is missing. Additionally you never had to use the old control scheme, get through any boss fights, or been punished for your kill count late in the game. Or had an in-game character read your memory card back to you. Or fooling highly trained adult soldiers by walking around in a cardboard box.
Ground Zeroes is nothing but a teaser. Made to make you wonder what these shiny new graphics and the old charm of previous games are capable of together.
