That’s fucking awesome. Now I just need to see if there is a light machine gun anywhere. Worse comes to worse Ill just take the silencer off my rifle and go hard in the paint.
The only reason I hopped in the tank is because I got spotted by one, and it was either risk dying by trying to run or take action, lol.
I remember doing one of the side missions that has you kill the two Mercenaries, and I accidentally killed one of them by driving into the front of their car with my car at full speed. His head hit the dashboard, and it was instant death from there…
I ALMOST had a really good way of pulling that mission off. I found a sniper rifle, went to that guard tower to the west in the refugee camp, tranquilized both guards, sniped the white bald dude from up there and because of how far away I was, they didnt know where he got shot from. Then I went on top of the first armory you see and went prone with the sniper since they still had no clue of my where abouts. I actually seen the other guy from there, but didnt recognize him because I forgot he is the only black guard without a hat. By the time I figured out I missed him it gave me the mission failed screen. I was this close to an epic failed hitman mission lol
The drop range is different for every weapon though, and it’s fairly hard to get a gauge on how much you should compensate. The feedback isnt as good as it is in battlefield. You can miss a shot and instantly know how much higher you need to aim. You also have to lead long distance shots on moving targets. Figured that one out with the sniper during the assassination mission. A shot to the helipad, from the roof of the first visible armory, takes about two seconds for the bullet to hit its destination. That headshot was so satisfying though.
Also to you people that played on current gen (xbone, ps4) how was the draw distance on enemies? On PS360 you can’t see an enemy from more than 100-200 feet without zooming in with binoculars/sniper scope.
I mean the regular draw distance of physical objects is fine. I was wondering about the NPC draw distance.
Anyway, I think Skullface sounds cool. You only see him at the very beginning and the rest of his character is audio. Maybe having a character like that will reaffirm the existence of boss fights in MGS? Im just hoping really.
I wasnt really even talking about fleshing out the character. The fact that Ground Zeroes doesnt have a boss fight is moderately unnerving. They ditched boxes, what’s to stop them from dropping boss fights? Both are iconic parts of the previous games, and they just casually tossed out both in a tech demo. I can live without the boxes, but without memorable boss fights it wouldnt feel like a metal gear. Even with Peace Walker they decided they at least needed something and made the boss fight’s AI war machines(those fuckers soaked mad damage though)
[details=Spoiler]The scene on the chopper where the chopper pilot can’t get a hold of Mother Base air traffic control, Big Boss opens the side door to see the sky set a blaze and the camera pans over to Chico with the look of guilt on his face because he’s the reason Mother Base is destroyed. I never paid attention to that until after listening to the tapes. Also will Boss/Kaz ever find out what he did or does Chico even survive the crash?
Now onto Skull Face, the star of Ground Zeroes. Skull Face seems way to interesting, mysterious and he’ll be a central figure in some shape or form in Phantom Pain to not take note of him. Face has his own agenda that differs from Zero, even though he was ordered by Zero to turn the naval base into a black site. Also we learn that he wants to kill Zero as well as Big Boss. Why does he want to kill Zero? To free himself from whatever psychological prison Zero has him in? Does Zero even now that Paz is alive or she was being held at the base? In the opening dialogue between Kaz/Boss they ostensibly think that this is part of Cipher’s plan.
The relationship between Big Boss and Skull Face will be interesting development in the Phantom Pain. Face seems to really know about Big Boss and what he is about, as if they met each other on several occasions in the past. He makes to direct quotes from Big Boss and that’s something you don’t just pickup or read in an Intel report even though he’s a spy. Also said that he hope’s Big Boss is still a good listener. How would he know he’s a good listener if they didn’t meet? I’m guessing he knew Boss through his time with the Patriots. I’m thinking that Skull Face will be to Big Boss as Liquid was to Solid Snake, that’s just my opinion.[/details]
I started getting my thoughts after reading these good MGSV analysis from Three Dogg:
Anyways good game, very happy to see how damn sharp and polished it looked on the ole PS3, great to cap some US soldiers for a change as well, no matter how many times i wipe out the base they keep comming.
Storywise, I think Zeros entrance in PP will outdo the entrance of Cyborg Ninja in MGS1, am so fucking hyped now.
Skull face might be interesting but he wont be nothing special, his hunting of Cipher brings in another angle to the Zero/Big Boss shit storm thats about to happen but hes only plot filler in the grand scheme of things. Am sure the fury is already well and truly dead at this point btw, what with his exploding corpse and his soul screaming all the way to hell etc.
Liquid is the most OP guy in the series though, all of BBs strengths none of his weakness, am still butthurt they forced him and ocelot into one bastard spawn character, Solid needed a better rival than quick aging.
I do think Skullface is a new standalone character, as for Chico I dunno if he survives and I speculate purely on the basis of what he has already suffered is too much in the same vein as Raiden, and Chico doesnt come up again in either MG and MGS 1.
