Why is the fact that reflex mode opens MGS up to people who are bad at stealth, terrible? Like motherfuckers complaining that DS2 has an easier mode when you can just not use it. I never used it once. Turned it off before I even played for the first time. Cry some more you filthy elitists.
Perhaps you missed the part where I said that I realize you can turn it off.
It’s nothing to do with being an elitist. Reflex mode removes all the stealth aspects from the game. You can just run around and headshot everyone in slow motion. The game is good, but reflex mode defeats all purpose. It’s insulting.
Im no attorney but I’d say that’s a contradiction. Only an elitist could be insulted by an additional mechanic to a game/media.
Additionally, it’s not insulting if you dont use it. Turn it off. Meanwhile, let the people who are god awful at stealth games have their watered down fun, and not a make a big deal of it yeah? I think it would make people who use it, feel like they suck and encourage them to do better. because it very memorably imprints on you how many times you got caught/spotted.
And MGO in the end is more of a bonus to players. MGS at its core is a Single Player game. Very few if any people will buy MGS solely for MGO, regardless of the quality between the actual Single Player game and MGO.
didn’t mgs3 guards actually call for backup and it was possible to just shoot their radio? or was it just mgs2??
(haven’t played in few years…kinda forgot)
Yea on MGS3 you could pop their radios. Not certain if you could do that on MGS2 though. Would have to consult my HD collection
When it earns the honor of having an MGS game post NES era
After having played main mission again with Relfex mode on and experimenting with it, yes it is possible to get caught and enter combat status.
If an armored vehicle spots you. If a search light operator spots you(maybe it was bug). If you miss and dont notice it because of how long it takes for shots to hit somebody. If a camera sees you.
And then finally, your reflex time is very limited. You get maybe 5 seconds of reflex time. If you didnt kill everyone looking at you during slow mo, the whole base is on your ass.
Something that I really like about GZ and PP is that the game doesn’t focus on only stealth, but rather limitless choice as to how you go about completing your mission. I love the fact that I can do anything ranging from trying to go through the whole stage without being detected, or even getting in a tank and fucking everything up.
I also absolutely LOVE the seamless transition from gameplay to cutscenes. It completely destroys the need for pre rendered cinematics because the game’s engine just looks so damn sexy already, as well as adds a huge sense of realism to the scene. It’s like you’re watching this game through the scope of a cameraman following the characters around.
