Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Online

Is it too late to pre-order the limited edition?

The L1 “auto-aim” has been in the series since MGS1, bums. It’s not even remotely powerful enough to ruin the game. They have to be in your line of sight already for it to be effective.

You guys are babies, 8 players is fine. With like 20 people running around there would be a crazy learning curve for noobs to metal gear. That and Having tonnes of people everywhere would’nt really feel like metal gear either. 8 is a good number, limits slowdown as well.

You enjoy that 4 v 4 stuff there. I’ll be playing some FPSes where there’s actually enough people to consider it a battle.

Sounds interesting.

Well, first off, since i don’t have internet where i stay here, and second i dont have ps2 online, i won’t be playing this.

So i can wait and see how this shit pans out before getting it when i come back. Also, it would be a good idea for this to come out for xbox360 with that huge Live support. Oh well though.

Just played a bit of the import at Kiyas.

The maps are small, 4v4 is more than enough(this is not BF2). You die pretty fast in the game, and there is a set respawn time that can’t be changed(as far as I could tell…can’t read jap).

Sneaking missions are hit or miss depending on the people. If you have good opponents, you will have to really try. But one game I stayed snake until the time limit ran out.

The capture missions turn out to be a “kill the other team” game rather than capturing the monkey(whats the english name for it?). Which in turn turns out to be team king of the hill really.

A part I really like is how you can shot peoples radios, therefor, stoping voice com. You can still type…but who the fuck wants to do that? One you die, you become a ghost. You can float around, talk, or even fight other ghost(but its pretty meaningless).

Switching weapons is just like single player, but after messing around in the menu for a bit, you can choose to have a quick loadout. But since everyone liked to change alot, that was pretty useless.

Getting to the power weapons alive is pretty much impossible.

I still am not able to access the account I made on the site to check my stats. Hope its just a jap thing and that it is cleared up for the US version.

There is no timelimit on voice com BTW.

From what I could understand while I was playing, it seemed really solid(pun not intended). It doesn’t try to be socom, CS, or SC, and it isn’t. If you have a good team, then things can get really interesting.

Oh and pre-order! You won’t really find anything new on the saga disk, but its a nice time waster.

Can this game be played with a 3rd party network adapter? I have the official one but doesn’t work anymore and I don’t know if it’s the system or just the adapter. I plan on getting this game but I’m on the fence about wasting $150 bucks for a slim PS2.

I think 4 on 4 would suit better for the MGS universe, especially if you want the camo index to work at all. It may slow the game down, but it adds the stealth element into the game. (I read that if you stay completely still with a high camo index you become transparent?)

That’s correct. Here’s a video demonstrating it:

I was trying to think of things to argue about, but then I just realised that FPS’s are retarded anyways and theres no point in denouncing 20 player frag fests cause they are dumbed to thier very core. No doubt that these games are fun, but it’s still stupid as hell.

I have had more at a lan party with 8 player halo than I have playing online with 16 people.

SOOOOO, how’s the aiming system when in third person view, is it as we fear, or is it good or better than other games,
and is there dancing around bullets in gunfights or is it just stare at the other person and shoot?

One week left. Does EB get days on release day or a day/few days after?

are you going to be able to play split screen with friends on a multitap???

im outi

Roberth

Usually it depends on how popular they anticipate the game to be. Sometimes they will pay extra and get it shipped to them so it arrives the same day. Other times there appears to be no rhyme or reason to the madness. So in short: With Subsistence? No clue. But I doubt they will have it in on the 14th.

Nope. This is online only.

ditto. that seems to be all im worried about. i hope it involves some skill and technique somewhat.

I pre-ordered the game yesterday, but now i tried to set up my connection for my PS2. What the hell do i do? This is fucking confusing!

I’ve heard from reviews that you can’t play the modes outside of the online mode. That SUCKS, especially since the multiplayer is good from what I’ve gathered.

1.) Do you have a slim PS2 or a bulky one. Slim ones have a network adapter built in, but one has to be bought for the bulky ones.

2.) Assuming your “playing room” and the computer room are apart and you don’t have a router, you’ll need long phone wires.

3.) You’ll have to unplug the network cable from the computer and put it into the PS2. That’s the cable with a wider “telephone cable” connector at the end. Without a router, that means bringing your modem into the other room.

4.) If you don’t have the online CD that comes with the PS2, I don’t know where to get it. Sorry. You could look around on Sony’s website.

Don’t worry, all online PS2 games have the setup to get online. Choose autodetect for the configurations and you should be fine. I’ve heard it is easier than the Sony CD to comprehend.

No LAN/I-link or anything like that(which I find retarded).

I’ve been waiting for this game for an extremely long time. I was so pissed when it got pushed back from november. Paid the game off a while ago so I will be picking it up as soon as I get the chance.
