Metal Gear Rising thread. Releasing in Early 2013 for PS3 & 360

I played the MGR demo multiple times, and it seems so promising. There are a LOT of similarities between this game and Bayonetta, even from just playing the demo. The whole thing reminded me of Bayo, especially a lot of the moves, the level design, the blade mode / witch time mechanic, and the cool way that the enemies explode after defeated. The demo got me hyped beyond my expectations, even though it was riddled with weird bugs.

I’m going to buy the hell out of this game son (and anything else Platinum makes).

I see through you Beta! Don’t think I don’t!

Guess I am not a…“real…ni hickup gguh” …

First the Yakuza 5 demo and now this? Life is good.

It’s pronounced NIGGA, nigga!!

Has it been confirmed that there will be main weapons other than the katana?

I definitely expect there to be more main weapons, and I think I saw Raiden using a staff-like weapon in one of the earlier trailers.

He can steal weapons/attacks from bosses like Megaman if he defeats them a certain way from some of the articles I read.

Very cool. Then I’m assuming that the “staff” I saw Raiden using was the one used by the boss with multiple arms.

So hyped!

EDIT: Apparently its called “Etranger”, and is “flexible like a whip, but can be hardened and used like a halberd.”

Sounds like my dick…HIGH FIVE!

Any comparisons between the 360 and PS3 versions yet? I’m getting the PS3 version but I’m curious about the Xbox version.

They both run very smoothly, the ps3 dips a bit more but it isn’t the disaster Bayonetta was.

Yeah, I didn’t even notice anything with the PS3 version when I played the demo. Good to see there are no Bayonetta style problems. But I guess that was more Sega than Platinum.

Damn P* on da ball with MGR for both consoles.

Getting weapons for “special kills” sounds more of less like just doing the slow mo kill and stealing their spine.

I hate when devs pump of the “features” of a game and they are basic as hell. I’d rather do a “no damage kill” or “kill within a minute” to get a special weapon. Dont say bosses will drop weapons for “special kills” if they arent really special kills.

Just a pet peeve.

there really wasnt anything special about no damage kills in MGS. just sayin

Actually, it’s to cut off the left arm of enemies or something like that.

Thats not the point I was making.

I’m pretty sure you’ll just get a new weapon after each boss fight. But that doesnt sound nearly as dramatic as “special boss kill s award you will brand new weapons.”

I hate when people manipulate words into soft lies.

I thought the main version of MGR was the PS3 version?

You buy new weapons from the Doktor after you defeat the bosses. Cutting and collecting left hands from enemies will grant you purchasable upgrades.

I can’t confirm or deny that, if anyone can provide some sources it would greatly be appreciated. I’m just glad they both run silky smooth.

It’s special when you do a full foxhound run in MGS3 on European Extreme difficulty. The fact that your mk2 ammo was limited and you needed suppressors as well makes it harder. Oh and how can I forget trying to do all of this and maintain stamina throughout the entire game. Eating animals during the run and not being seen or beating it under the time restrictions…just damn…proud to accomplish it. I admit MGS4 sucks in this department since there is a ton of tranq ammo lying around even on max difficulty and no suppressor refill needed.

The fact this dude did it in a single segment astounds me:

Metal Gear has always been hype for the single player experience. It always tripped me out hearing people playing MGS for MGO exclusively…lol.

MGO1 was the only reason I ever played MGS3. I beat snake eater twice and that was it
