Okay it took me forever but I passed the cutting section of the final boss.

Then he proceeded to kill me after I got him to 20%.

:(

Yea sounds about right Dino. You can ninja ran to the side of those, or slide under them if you don’t want to slice em up, but you miss out on the health item drops.
There’s tons of ways not to be condescending too.
I also discovered tons of ways to stop being a dumbass by looking in the instruction manual to find the answer.

That
being said, I’m playing on normal, and I’m evidently not very good at
this game. Playing on Normal for the first time, I just beat Monsoon,
but died at least 3 times and only beat him with a C ranking. I love
the game, but I’m having a hard time adjusting. Not sure what I’m not
"getting" but gonna keep playing, game’s too good.

Well sorry but i find people unable to help themselves when it comes the simplest of things to be worth being condescending to.

I continued 105 times on Hard Mode. On Very Hard 85 times. Dieing a lot is normal.
Name of the game is lightning bolt action. You pretty much have to learn how to kill as quickly as possible. Learn how to parry, cancel your attacks into, bait enemies into parrying your parry then punishing with offensive>defensive evades. Depending on how I’m feeling and what difficulty level, I use sub items like the EMP nade and porn mags. You’ll learn as you fight more and more. Raiden’s special attacks set up zandatsu’s. Ninja run>heavy can nail several enemies at once allowing you to pull off a quadruple zandatsu. Zandatsu’s ruin the camera angle so always hold down ninja run when you pull one off. Always keep moving. If there’s anyone you cannot see, ninja run to move quickly to observe your surroundings. Anytime you enter and area and enemies don’t know, study where they are.

Like that bitchass Japanese garden. I never got beaten so badly in my life when I got detected. Then I stealth killed almost everyone there. SO GOOD.

Yeah the thing you need to get into your head is that this game is like Ninja Gaiden where it values efficiency over ridiculous combos. Once you get to that stage it starts to get easier to clear areas without getting destroyed. This is harder than NG imo.
Get really good at parrying.
Be familiar with dodging and manual cutting with right stick in blade mode.

If we are talking about Revengeance difficulty vs Master Ninja I feel master ninja in Sigma 1 and 2 are by far harder. The enemies are much smarter imho. Parries are the end all be all on Revengeance difficulty but in NG they are more of a means of escape. Also lets not forget a majority of the areas in Revengeance can be stealthed and you have options like the gray fox sword etc.

Though beating the game with the wooden sword fully upgraded aka really nerfing it could probably be harder than NG…lol.

There’s also stull like when you die in MGR they give you full health, full Blade Mode/JTR meter, and the check points are really generous. Ninja Gaiden has save statues that can be really far apart at times, and you continue from the save spot so if your stuck before like Alma 1 with no health items and half a health bar you’re possibly in for a REALLY rough ride. Remember you save before that fight you can’t leave the church, so it’s either deal with it or wash out.
Agreed, I love the difficulty in Rising don’t get me wrong. For the record I also haven’t used the wooden sword and I think that it could bring it up to NG level but like you said…tons of checkpoints in MGR and you get all that stuff back. Alma is like WTF and UN01 in NGS2 is another WTF. Who at Team Ninja thought it was a good idea to throw all those bosses with MN AI in a circular domain when they know the camera messes up at walls…who???

You b#$@!@^, till we meet again in April Hayashi.

Honestly though Rising is my favourite game in the genre right now, sometimes it’s not about being the most difficult but rather being the most AWESOME.

I don’t even really count the Fox Blade because it’s more of a cheat than a legit weapon lol. I haven’t even played Revengeance mode yet (Currently running through very hard with Fox) but so far on Very Hard, I’ve found it harder than MN on NG if we are talking S ranking the encounters. I find it a lot easier to not get touched in NG because the movement is superior, you can block without having to time it, humanoid enemies have no answer for Inzuna Drops, and you can constantly abuse i-frames with essence and instant UTs.

Oh yeah, I forgot how useful items are in this game. Is there anyway to cancel the recovery on item use because it’s so slow. Also, what does the Jamming grenade do? Hasn’t seemed useful against any enemy I’ve tried it on. Not like the RP Grenade anyway.
Hey guys, what strings do you use when you’re trying to do damage? I usually run with Sam’s blade as main with no secondary weapon. And go for strong, strong, square, strong and bmc on the last hit. I don’t actually know how effective this is.
Once you get to Revengeance they buff the parry, not to mention your options of avoiding a lot of enemies via stealth. Agreed with the i-frames and Ryu having better movement options. I guess it depends on player mentality. Though I think everyone here will agree it’s got nothing on NG Black for the xbox in terms of difficulty. The check points were so far apart it was such an old school game interms of it’s philosophies. Sigma 1 got more checkpoints and took some of the areas/puzzles away making it a bit easier.
I just feel Ninja Gaiden offers more opportunities for you to be fucked over because you could be far as fuck from any Shop, or cut off from a save point by enemies, even right after a boss encounter. Just basically if you mismanage your resources you can be put in really shitty situations. MGR is kind enough to refill all your base resources when you die. Never find yourself right before a boss with no health items and 1/3 a health bar and having to deal with that shit no matter how often you die.

The enemies in MGR are way more fucking agressive then pretty much everything in NG, and Ryu does have a lot more i-frames, and better movement abilities then Raiden does, as well as a really strong, easy to use blocking mechanic.

I feel both of these games offer amazing challenges tho. Some of the best action games ever made, easily.
