The final boss really does test your skills and knowledge of the game’s mechanics. They do a good job of making him actually feel tough and a worthy final boss, despite the fact who he is or how silly it may be.

Come to think about it, despite all the crazy shit, every last boss in Metal Gear games (at least the ones I’ve played, which have been all the Solid series and Revengeance), has been a person. It’ll always come down to a 1v1 fight between the main character and a person.

MGS1: Liquid Snake PUNCH OUT EDITION
MGS2: Solidus
MGS3: The Boss
MGS4: Liquid Ocelot THROWBACK EDITION

and MGR:R…

MGR R final boss
Spoiler
<strike>SENATOR SMASH</strike> Senator Armstrong. Also, when I think about it again, I’m wondering if the part where Raiden fist fights Armstrong is a throwback to the previous MGS games where, with the exception of 2, you pretty much fist fight the final boss to death. But then they’re like NAH SON THIS IS METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE. FUCK FISTS. YOU DIDN’T CUT EVERYTHING UP IN THE GAME ONLY TO KILL THE BOSS WITH PUNCHES. GRAB YO SWORD AND CUT THIS MOTHER FUCKER UP!

Wow off topic but Kojima is really worried about how controversial his new Metal Gear Solid is. The above article links to another article and he saying he’ll point out Rising is selling well if Groudn Zero does not.

I’m incredibly curious about what he’s doing.
I actually wish this game had Bloody Palace, or maybe just something that randomly generates different enemy configurations. The encounters in Normal/Hard usually only send one strong enemy type and a bunch of grunts, but Very Hard has all sorts of asshole combinations and it’s really addictive.

Parry into dodge is godlike
Metal Gear Rising 2 please! They seemed to set it up with the ending.

I can only imagine what Platinum can do with this game when they have more time to develop it and less of a mess to clean up.
