Metal Gear Rising thread. Releasing in Early 2013 for PS3 & 360

Ok who broke SRK. Everything is centered… >_<

I got the box achievement. Still need to collect the left arms.

Man, people saying this game has no depth because not a big enough moveset annoy me.

Depth and quality of combat is more than combos, real time weapon swaps and what the character you play can do. It includes enemies and bosses. The enemies are like Bayonetta tier or maybe 1 lower due to quantity but the bosses are probably the best, annoying ass QTEs included. By best I mean visually/audibly entertaining and gameplay wise

Enemies and bosses are both challenging and really test you and your knowledge of the game system.

Wooden Sword is funny lol. It’s like you’re erasing the enemies out of existence.
Mr X, don’t forget the data storages if you haven’t gotten them all already. They unlock some cool shit

Doing a second run on Normal. Leveled up the HF Blade in the first playthrough on hard. Man, Raiden’s sword makes short work of everything now. Gekkos come down in about three hits now LOL<div style=“font-weight: normal; font-style: normal;”>

OAN: Heard Scream, Aim, and Fire by Bullet For My Valentine today. Lyrics have Raiden all over it

Oh sweet. My mystery DLC was the Gray Fox skin and Fox Blade.

Hurt me more!!!

LOL at the codecs after cutting the hostages’ clothes…
The one to one combat is little less engaging than Gaiden I suppose, but it’s still really fun. Just have to use the hard lock feature or the camera does the NG3 “I’m attacking this guy…but what’s this guy over here doing ATM?” kind of shiftiness. Game does get over it’s oddities through sheer velocity and hype though. Was playing it at my store yesterday and people were drooling, though a few couldn’t even keep track of the action lol
I’m going to say 60-70% of the story/backstory/background info is in codecs.

Serious.

Like if you want to know what happened between acts or the situation or anything, codec somebody.
What’s a good strategy against the water strider flame thrower things? I’ve been using the sais but it’s a hassle keeping it charged when I can’t block the flame attack and the spin is such a pain to parry.
Bladewolf is fucking hilarious, best character in the game.

Cause Monsoon is an asshole.

on the subject of the bosses…

Spoiler

Outside of Sundowner and Sam, none of the desperadoes really have much relevance to each other, making them feel less like a unit than Foxhound Dead Cell and Cobra. We only ever see Sam with Sundowner and a little bit with monsoon, Mistral is with Dolzaev (who is a complete non-entity) and Monsoon is just randomly chilling in Denver. There’s no “kill the intruder/interrupter” from MGS1/2, or “lie in wait as an ambush” from MGS3. DE is still better than the B&B unit but not by much. Sam steals the show, Monsoon is a prick, Sundowner’s laugh is corny as fuck, and Mistral is sexy AF.

The story behind them could have been better. Their designs are sick and the fights are good. I just didnt care about any of them aside from Sam

Final boss is a dick on revengeance.

I actually want to say i enjoy this game more than Bayo. Even though overall i think Bayo is better just for the combat system.

How theres not that many annoying QTE’s/only one level that aren’t just Raiden being Raiden make it a blast to play.

And is there any way to check your rank on missions like in DMC? I need a pretty screenshot of my S ranks on Revengeance

I see people saying parry leaves your back open on other sites.

Uhhh no? If you get into parry stance, you’re good for all 360 unless it’s different on Hard than other difficulties. I’ve did early parry to one guy and got hit by another behind me a lot.

Lol people complaining that the guard and counter attack aren’t like NG.
I just want to thank the final boss for making me feel so weak and helpless. Through out the whole game i was feeling like a badass, nothing can get in my way. Get to him and it was the first time I used to the codecs for boss advice. Got to the last true fight of him with no nanopaste left. When I finally “got” it and took him down. that sensation that bathed over me was one I haven’t had in a long time.
Should’ve did a first playthrough revengeance difficulty. Everything makes you feel weak and helpess…EVERYTHING!
Still fun though. Had to pick all my battles and find stealth routes n shit.

The last boss is a lot easier after the first time. Since you probably have Sams sword upgraded by then

I know, but Revengeance firstplaythrough = No sam sword upgraded. I just gotta do a battle of endurance until I win!
Still need to beat him…

Does it force you to use Sam’s Sword after that cutscene no matter which blade you have equipped? Cuz if it does I’m grinding to max that shit out today

Yep. You’re forced to use his sword regardless of playtrough
