Metal Gear Rising thread. Releasing in Early 2013 for PS3 & 360

even with infinite blade mode JTR mode will end after a zandatsu, you have to reactivate it

no matter what skin or blade or wig you choose you are still base raiden in all cutscenes

That’s cuz all the cutscenes are Pre-Rendered.
<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>Yo for those that don’t know you can blind-instant fire sub weapons, even in combos, by double tapping L2 or whatever the 360 equivalent is. SUPER useful for some of those VR missions with subweapons only.

Sundowner is really owning me. Like OWNING me.

I need to level up if I’m going to bother with Revengeance mode because Hard is kicking my ass quite nicely.

My asshole was trying to recover from the double boss fight one after another and THEN I get to Sundowner with one ration on hard. I dont really see myself passing this tonight so I might as well take a break until tomorrow.
How does one unlock wigs? Also wtf that’s so silly

Some of Raiden’s MGS2 phaggotry still carries over to later MG titles.

I’m an idiot, you don’t need to double tap just tap L2 once without holding it.

I unlocked the brown wig after beating the game. Not sure if it requires anything else. I also randomly unlocked the blue wig and wasn’t sure how.
Hey does anyone know what that MGR update does? My PS3 has a real problem downloading updates for some reason, I’m wondering if it’s worth my time trying over and over for 45 min to get it to go through or if it’s not that important.
Okay I just beat Monsoon but…he definitely took my health down to 0 multiple times and everytime it refilled to 100% and I have no idea why…

They work just like they do in MGS, when you health drains all the way the Rations auto refill. In this game they are called Nanopaste.

If you have the rations equiped, it’ll autofill your health when it hits 0.
holy shit holy shit holy shit!!! upcoming DLC

one of them you get to play as motherfuckin Sam!

http://www.metalgearsolidtv.com/2013/02/metal-gear-rising-revengeance-new-vr.html
Not sure if anyone posted this but I think when you use Defensive Offense you can continue your current string ala Bayonetta. For example, Tri. xx DO, Square, Tri. The whole combo will come out.

So I’m only in the Denver stage at the moment. I like the game so far.

The parrying is quite janky though and I’ve been experimenting with it. Since parrying is a stance, rather than being like DMC where you meet attack to attack, it makes it awkward at times to get into it. Since you can’t go into the stance raw, the game seems to check if an enemy is in the startup of an attack and the distance. The distance part is messing up with me, because I was testing against the Grad, since he first starts out with the same attack every time, if I wait for him to come to me with the attack, I don’t even get into the stance, but rather Raiden’s enclosing dash. But if I take 2-3 steps forward then I can get into stance for a block or perfect parry. With blade mode canceling into a parry, blade mode seems to have some recovery when coming out of it but if you cancel into blade mode the instant you see red, you could make it most of the time into a parry. If the parry doesn’t get you into a insta kill blade mode (like if you parry a flamethrower tripod), it’s better just to use offensive dodge imo (parry slashes only seem to just do damage against GRADs for example).

Also it’s funny that enemies have an easier time hearing you walk around then when you land. In the VR mission 6 (the sneaking one with 1st score under 15 seconds). I got 14 seconds after numerous tries because if you run to the guy on the left, he can spot you pretty fast, but if you ninja run then jump you can land and he won’t notice you so you can backstab him, though the other guy would see you (just wait a second for the other guy go forward a bit before you shank the guy on the left). Also just doing a zandatsu is noisy, but doing a stealth kill into a zandatsu is not.

I haven’t used nano paste yet. Doesn’t feel right to use healing items in an action game. DMC used negative reinforcement to make this habit with it’s grading system. I don’t know if they keep track of it in this game though.
Looks like I’m gonna be stuck awhile on Excelsior (or whatever the fuck that thing’s name is). I’ve beaten all the previous bosses on my first try (cept Sun Guy), this giant mech is the first one I legit can’t beat at the moment. Any tips?

Cardboard box is a sub-weapon, not an item. The only two items you can equip are Nanopaste and something else that replenishes your energy.
Electrolyte Pack. Refills the Blade Mode Meter.
