Use Ike! That’s what I do against my friend’s MK. XD
But anyways. When we first got the game, my friend would play with fox, and I would use Sheik. Everyone we played with agreed that our match ups would always be the funnest to watch because of all the lightning fast movement. But then he figured out how much of a beast MK is. He also found out that MK was like, pretty much the best in the game. But when he found out that snake was able to beat MK, he played with both of them. Since then he’s become really good with snake and MK. Whenever we play in tournies, he starts out with Marth just to weed his way through the smaller competition and have fun with it, but once he gets deeper into the bracket, he switches to either MK or snake in order to win.
My saying is that this could really happen to anyone. Another friend of ours, acllaim who is a damn good SF player, picked up Snake on the sole reason that he was really good. He didn’t even take a second look at any of the other characters and in my opinion, people that do this pretty much ruin the game.
Everyone’s talking about Metaknight the same way they were talking about Flaco last year. No character is unbeatable. This is why I don’t believe in tier lists.
Marth’s attacks and at which % they kill on if the character momentum cancels with only double-jump. That’s only a weight factor tho. Throw in momentum cancelling moves and things change a bit.
Are there any videos or a bracket image uploaded somewhere? It’s certainly a bit shocking to see this, but it shows how “broken” MK is, with one placing in the top 8 (I’m guessing there’s at least one MK in 9th-12th?)
However, that list doesn’t factor in momentum canceling, which Metaknight is the third best character in the game.
With his crazy good momentum cancel, he can usually live anywhere from 130%-170% per stock, not bad I say.
Metaknight is an insanely good character, having almost everything you could possibly ask for in one being. However, even with all his advantages, I don’t think he is anywhere near bannable material.
The trouble with MK (and I say this as an MK main) is that there is never any reason not to pick him. You might go even with him but MK has no situation in which he’s at a disadvantage… on any stage, against any character.
MK dittos are so fun. It’s like playing Melee because there’s no reason to not be aggressive.
and Fox. on New Pork City. ahahaha good luck ;D
but in all seriousness, MK vs. ICs on FD might be one of Metaknight’s worse/worst matchup/stage pairings, almost to the point that I might consider it a disadvantage for MK. I’m not too sure on that though.
A term coined in the casual community. I believe that it refers to a player that only plays top/high tier characters. They don’t play for the ‘love of the game’, blah blah blaaaah…
No. Meta-Knight has 5:5 on most of the top tier characters, and 6:4 on Dedede. While still good, this means he can only match them half of the time. It’s not really in his favor, but not in his opponents either. However, other characters have good match ups against the top tier characters. So, Meta-Knight is strong overall, but it would be smart to have a second to cover your personal bad match ups (NOTE: From the Smash boards, they are actually 55:45, but they are too close to 5:5 anyway and could probably be argued as 45:55 as well).
Just posted that regarding matchups mostly. As far as counter picking and secondaries for meta vs top tiers:
The only chars in the tip tiers were you’d do much better counter picking would be for ice climbers, diddy, DDD and snake, and you already have a significant advantage on icies and DDD.
The only matchups that meta has that are POSSIBLY even are Snake and Diddy >_>.
Doesn’t Sagat go even with some of the top tiers like Akuma and Ryu? I know akuma can do some dumb comboes that shouldn’t work but due because Sagat has a huge hitbox(hurtbox?).
