Message to SNK Heads: STOP BEING SCAREDY CATS!

agreed

along with KoFXI and NGBC, because they are popular and easy to get a hold of. some gamers dont like having to import a game then mod their systems to play it. thats just what i have come across while i try to get people i know into SNK games.

lol, thats not what i meant but i can understand why you said it

I hope WHP is fun to watch, though I have no idea. Playing it is a blast, though.

wtf?
whats all this argueing about snk games that are ugly?

98% of snk games are fucking horrible in the graphics department
but as long as the gameplay is there to makeup for it who givees a fuck

while its nice to have a complete package of graphics and gameplay u dont always get that

i will take gameplay over graphics any day

and saizo aint shit in breakers ill rape that with dao long

Dao can turtle against Saizo, thus why you can beat Saizo. if Condor were to go up against Saizo…well…thats a tough match for the Injun

Yeah, now all we need is a US PS2 Garou and we’ll be set.

Not really.

Saizo’s projectiles go right through Dao’s, and if Saizo gets time to space shit right it can get really damn ugly for Dao. Not impossible, but it’s still damn hard.

Lmao yea I was about to say how is he gonna turtle? Saizo’s knives blows through every projectile in the game and hits for guaranteed damage.

And that’s like the least overpowered thing about him.

that’s not even true tho, being pixelated doesn’t necessarily mean they’re ugly. i think most samsho, kofs, rbffs etc. look pretty damn nice. breakers’ ugliness isn’t related to graphical constraints of the neo geo hardware but just shitty design in general.

breakers isnt even an snk game tho so i dunno why thats relevant

More SNK Guys do need to drop the fanboy attitude and get more down and dirty.

I’ve aways thought thah Neo games looked better than everything Capcom had but 3s. Garou is damn close though.:bluu:

If there was a good showing and people were serious enough, yea I’d go. It might have to have a few non-SNK games though to try and get other people in who don’t really know much about SNK fighters. CvS2, SF2, GG, VF might be good side games.

You know thats not gonna happen dude :frowning:

If people wanna learn Garou just use Mame or get swap magic / HDAdvance.

Come guys lets make this happen

I need to get my ass down to Evo.

Amen!!!

As Stone says he finds more FANBOYS of Neo Geo Battle Coliseum than actual players…

I wanna drop the fanboy label altogether…because its funny people mistook me as a “rabid fanboy at first”…

Only to see I’m as hardcore as they come and will challenge anyone and believe I can win!

AntiShoto here.

After reading the good cents from the FunkDoc, Keits, and last but never least the Darkman Geese(the REAL boss that’d make Young Geese look jealous-make him dance the Soulja Boy theme and crank his ass w/ hotter Reppu Kens, sir!), here are my thoughts.

I always consider playing characters regardless of tier. Old school mentality will still be with me regardless of who says what, but in terms of having bosses used in tournies is like having noobs playing w/ ST Akuma and seeing them get wasted for cheap thrills. At least in this example, when people beat them nobody complains because obviously he/she’s a noob. Were it be middle tier characters such as Fei/Chun/Dictator/etc. and it’s a battle to the finish, then it’d be and obvious look and a more interesting outcome.

Let’s put that same comparison to none other than the SNK side and with a game I always loved to play: World Heroes Perfect. SURE, Kidd is top tier, but doesn’t me he owns up everyone for free. He may have some combos that are great, but not dominant. Damaging to the rest of the chacters? Yes. Damaging so Geese Jack can knock me down for dizzies so I can rematch him again? Why not? But, that doesn’t mean he’s the Ken of the game. Although he can still be played like a mid and challenge every other char, it’s still possible for any char to fight anyone else. Hence, the game is balanced for just about anything to say the least.

New school mentality, on most occasions, don’t see it that way. It’s always seen as
the"best-character-to-play-and-nothing-else-regardless-of-what-the-world-thinks" type of attitude which sadly doesn’t promote anything but pure fuckin BOREDOM. Chun/Yun/Ken/ matches are the worst to see in 3S since it’s nothing out of the ordinary. Not me tho since I play with Team Kobra Kai (Necro/Yang/Alex) in N.Y. But, simply put I’d rather see Mid tier battles than high/boss tier anyday of the week.

Another thing I find interesting is the popularity of the games. Sure, in NY we have stores that sell us imports, people who like them, and so forth. But, we don’t have a large SNK community- possibly at most 15-20 people who adore them. If we had more working machines and the potent to promote SNK games back and forth we’d do it. However, not many people are interested in them or don’t even know they’re in Chinatown Fair to begin with. Once they see any Capcom game they’re gonna be fighting it like Rod and Todd over Pixie Sticks on a hot scorching Summer night and have Bart as a guest referee.

It’s true. We could have games like MOTW,SamShoTenka,KOFXI,WH:P, DD,BR, etc. and do an event where we can promote them again so people can learn them as much as people want to learn nothing but Capcom games. All we need to do is to keep playing on and show whoever’s interested just exactly how good these games are- just like how we did in NEC last year in Philly.

Best time of my life: Playing DG in World Heroes Perfect for both the Semis and Loser’s Finals just to make top 3. I was even surprised of my performance since it was my second time playing that game and was interested in it like crazy. (REMATCH COMING SOON!!)

All in all, we just have to step up and make sure that we can contribute something this upcoming Spring till Evo East. If a good portion of people head to Hotlanta this March I look forward for it. If I’m not able to make it then, I can wait until Evo East to show what’s good in a couple of games.

But as agreed w/ the Funk Dr. Josh, get off the Pussy shit and do three simple things:

1- off with the nob slobbing over Japan’s elite over and over again since we can be just as good as them, if not better within time.

2- off with only Top Tier/Boss chars again and again and try someone one new. That’s how you learn any game in perspective.

3- Practice, Practice, Practice. Fundamentally speaking, perfect that part and it comes second nature to learn any game in the book.

I’m out and trying to learn adavanced combos with Erick/Kidd/Ryoko/Hogan. PM/IM , do w/e you feel to keep in contact.

And, see you all in March and MAY!

Excellent post man!!! I hear yah…art of the reason I cant get back into 3s doesnt matter how hard I try is because of boredom…I’ve seen enough Yun-Ken-Chun boring style play…

I am with you I encourage character variety…but at the same time if the character is legal and unless everyone can agree he needs to be banned and its like insanely obvious than people should just put up with it…

Yes that rematch is coming soon!!

You gonna be at Final Round XI right?

Oh yeah Young Geese is my bioch…

:smokin:

Also everyone there are reasons some bosses are banned in SNK play tha are very reasonable…

Take a prime example…Neo Dio in World Heroes Perfect…he’s not toned dow really whatsoever and blatantly broken, mad infinites, not meant to be playable in anyway shape or fashion in the game hence he’s playable.

Dont even DARE run that shit on me about Young Geese in NeoWave or I’m gonna shoot youdown SO HARD. Young Geese has a playable version and a Boss version andthe Boss Version is about 10x stronger than playable Young Geese. If Playable Young Geese = Boss Young Geese Young Geese would be banned…

Antishoto - the best way to learn dat WHP is to play over P2P with Funkdoc, Krost, myself, and the rest of the gang. Master Chibi is even getting pretty damn good, and he and I have had less than four playsessions.

Just because the boss one is way better than the playable one, doesn’t mean the playable one isn’t broken.

Broken…I didnt say he wasnt…but broken enough to ban???

Puhlease…

Thats the **pussy syndrome **me and Josh are talking about…every game has someone or something broken in it…period…

Broken is a word that everyone has a different meaning for.

Young Geese in Neowave is ‘broken’ in the sense that he is easier to win with than most of the cast. Every game has this kind of ‘broken’.
