Melty Blood ReACT

You can’t possibly take these matchup rankings seriously. I can go in there and declare that Sayuri wins 9:1 vs. all characters and shift the tiers of EFZ.

I’m no expert at the game by any stretch of the imagination, but some of what these people write are ridiculous (like the guy who played at a friend’s house for the first time 3 days before). Also, there are so many conflicting opinions when these people explain why they view a matchup in a certain way. I don’t know who to believe.

Fun with Sion. You can do this with VSion but why would you?

B Throw (from now on when I say throw I mean B Throw) the person. Run forward and watch them neutral recover. Throw them again as they touch the ground. (If they recover forward, even better just throw them as they land in front of you. If they recover backwards, I think they have a chance to do something.) Now depending on your opponent, they might or might not recover again. For now just run forward again, if they recover throw them again, air combo if you’re in the corner. If not, just play on as usual and try to throw again later. Now the opponent is trained to NOT recover when you throw them. Throw them again, they WILL NOT recover so OTG them with A Whip Grab, watch them recover as you run up and throw them AGAIN. This is not as likely because they have more time to do something before they hit the ground. Another option is to bypass the guessing game and just use EX Whip Grab or possibly B Slide Kick for the guaranteed combo.

Of course there’s all sorts of things that can go wrong with this. Sion isn’t the only person who has this kind of setup, but she has the easiest/safest one I’ve found so far. I find it can work at least once and that once could land you the corner air combo worth about 4k damage.

@ Kitsune:

I’ve always loved your avatars Kitsune, you have quite the knack for capturing some adorable and funny moments in anime. Your current Mahoromatic avatar is great.

@ lina or Vman:

I played against a friend recently, and he used Wacrueid against my Satsuki. Suffice to say that his patience won out, and Satsuki’s lack of anything in the air had me whimpering, so I went to Bloody Akiha. Clue me in if I’m doing something wrong, but when I went to training and tried to combo after the usual 4xA, c.C, s.B launcher, Wacrueid would shortly tech out after the launch. Should I follow up with B, and then do A, B, A, B, throw?

And pardon me if I TOTALLY got the buttons wrong, I just play the game on default so I’m not sure what button is which. ;p

Don’t do so many A’s, you only need two or three at most and the more you do the further away you push them. Are you just doing sweep, then one B? If so then just do the second B which is Akihas’ natural launcher or you could do 4+C but I think AkaAkiha should just do B,B.

AkaAkiha’s air combos:

Standard (when you don’t think you can land the relaunch combo)
B, dj, B, throw.

Relaunch (near a corner, or you’re low enough to the ground)
(B, dj, C, land, dash 2+B, B,B)x2, end with whatever you like (origami, jump C, throw)

BTW with Satsuki, shield bunker through the A rings and learn how to counterhit with Jump C. :slight_smile:

Pardon my ignorance, but what does dj stand for? Also, what is origami, and shield bunker?

Sorry if I come off as a fool. I don’t know the names all that well really.

;p

dj = double jump, Origami = Akihas’ 41236+C super, shield bunker = 214+D.

Ah.

One more moronic question, isn’t D the parry button?

Yes D is the parry/shield button, so what? =p It’s the shield bunker after all.

I didn’t know you could do specials with the parry button.

Gomen, gomen.

^_^;;;

Shield has many properties. You can do commands with it (shield bunker) and if you do a succesful shield while in Blood Heat, you automatically make the Last Arc, which is a special counter.

Check out Kalciane’s FAQ on GameFAQs. It has all you need to know.

As of buttons, this is what we mean to say:

A = jab
B = strong
C = fierce
D = shield

Adding to linalys’ post:

The reason why the CPU recovers so fast is because of the many A’s. Do the combo with only one A and you’ll see you can make the full air combo.

As of Satsuki vs. Warcueid, also keep in mind that B slap in the face (214) has autoguard. You can use that for your advantage. A well timed C slap in the face also works if you go for a trade.

As of the air, go for jumping Cs and charged jumped Cs. If Warcueid is keeping you awai with the rings, do a super jump > charged C from distance, or a double jump > charged C from half screen. Charged C should have enough priority to trade, and it does more damage than a regular C. If the charged C hits clean, go for the charged C x 3 combo.

Thanks for the tips you two, I’ll tell you how it goes as we’ll play later today.

:smiley:

hey guys, I’m garnering interest in the NW for MBR (not EFZ though, I ahte that game :mad: ).

Are there any good english sites for MBR yet? I plan on starting something up some time this month, lemme know if your interested in contributing.

PS. Satsuki and Sion on your faces.

EDIT: How are you guys ripping the sprites? I wanna start on that, but don’t know what the best technique would be.

No EFZ? Boo. EFZ > ReACT - unless you are talking of early versions of EFZ.

Some people is doing the sprite rips out of screenshots. That’s what I did for my avatar. The Third Strike sprite rip page has a tutorial that you can use for other games. You can find the link in a Image Mismatch thread.

The best you can find on Melty Blood information in English are:

  • Kalciane’s FAQ at GameFAQs
  • MB threads on Beast’s Lair, forums of The Moonlit World (look at long post in early pages for address)
  • Here

The best guide I know of is a Japanese page that is linked on Kalciane’s FAQ.

Yah, I’ve seen lots of forums with information, and I’ve seen that jpn site with screens and movelists and stuff. I plan on making a english site similar to the jpn one.

And people are sprite ripping and just piecing it all together to get those animate gifs? That’s crazy.

And I really don’t like EFZ haha. It’s cute and all, but I find MBR way more fun.

anybody know where i can find replays? all the replays are in some weird format that requires you to already have the game to view them…:bluu:

i heard yukinose had some vids on his site? but i’m not sure what the url to his site is.

the format i’m looking for is something i can play in my wmp. or real one. or even divx. also anyone know where i can view some official game art or anything for this game?

http://www.globetown.net/~yukinose/muvi.htm

Those are the only non rpd file replays I know of. Everywhere else just posts the rpds as they are so tiny. As for official art, I don’t think there is any. After all this is a doujin game based of another doujin h-game. If there was official art, it’d probably have to be from Type-Moon and would be more Tsukihime art than MB art. There’s TONS of fanart though.

The standard RPD file is 1.5 to 2 kilobytes. That’s why you will see RPD files almost everywhere.

thx a lot.

yeah i understand about the files but i mean not everyone has the game so…at least someone should show the files in a different format to show ppl who don’t have the game what the game looks like, right? it’ll get more ppl interested.

Check burningvigor.com, I think that 100+ meg combo vid is still up.
