Melty Blood ReACT: Final Tuned Open Discussion

if you mean SBC, then no, you do it the normal method. the problem is you have to input QCB, then QCF D~C all within the small window that you get to bara cancel. Or maybe im missing what BSC means.

Crossups don’t exist in MBR, read the wiki section for more info.

Wouldn’t they still work after a knockdown?

Yeah yeah, SBC is what I meant.

The way you listed it won’t work because tries to make sense out of the close motion done before an attack button has been pressed, so the game will register 214236D~C as:

21 [4236D~C],

and thus it will activate Ciel’s super instead of EX Runpast. Also you can’t try do 21 [2136D~C] because you won’t be SBCing at all. Thus the only real way, if it is at possible at all (which is the question), is if you can SBC EX Runpast by inputing this method:

21478236D~C

I find it really hard to do so I’d need to drop the FPS to even attempt it (if anyone remembers how to open up system direction in MBR, please do tell!). But so far I can’t even superjump cancel any ground specials. So if it exists, then it must be as hard to do as in 3s.

Anyone know if they fixed this in AC?

It’s not fixed in AC. Ciels crossup is still way useful. It gets you in point blank range of the opponent while you have priority and is just overall a good thing to do as crossup regardless of how easy/difficult it is to block.

And you’re assuming youre in heat for the 2141236 method. Guess what? Most of the time in matches youre not in heat, and thus the method mentioned works fine. try it by setting your meter to normal in training :stuck_out_tongue:

As far as in heat mode, her heat super is a far better bara then 236C and still applies. Hitting an opponent with unscaled heat in the face is underrated :stuck_out_tongue:

Vic, come this Saturday man, bring the laptop.

There’s like 4-5 folks that want in on MB goodness.

:open_mouth:

Oh bloody right. Why didn’t I notice that?

This is especially true there’s always the chance you could get autoguarded with EX Runpast, but it still I think it has it’s uses. It could be a decent bara cancel for punishing unrecover(ed/able) moves that couldn’t be punished by heat super due to it’s slow start-up at longer ranges.

Pick ciel, go into heat mode, TAP 4,2,6,c, get heat super.

Now do 4c and try to cancel into runpast while in heat. Try pressing A after the 4c and karaing it into runpast…and it works.

Better to cancel into runpast and still have meter than to do heat super and be left with 100%, for only slightly more damage. Now if you were in blood heat…

That works great in combos. It’s annoying to do off bara cancel but so is the other method, so go figure.

Im a noob in this game since I just barely got it.

I want to use my T4 joystick on it and I have a PS-PC USB converter. But all I can get is the buttons to work in the beginning gamepad screen but I can’t get the Joystick to work?

Need help, I don’t want to use the arrow pads?

Nevermind

I found out why it wasn’t working and I used a different converter and it works fine now :bgrin:

But it seems I need to get more RAM since the game starts out fine, then after a few matches it slows down like hell.

Wow, I always wonder if there were karas in this game. Have you found any other interesting applications with karas in this game (throws I wish :p).

4c xx 236c when you have heat. Do 4c > a xx kara 236c. I haven’t tested if you get reverse beat proration, but you probably do. 4c could also be 4b or 4a, but the only one I have a use for is 4c with Ciel.

It’s technically not a kara, but if you 2A someone on wakeup and they respond with invincible EX, you can often cancel your A into a shield and be safe even though your A whiffs due to their invincibility. DEFINATELY worth doing.

Also some characters can give their stand C attacks some slight forward range by doing Stand A -> Stand C while the A is out. This is most notable with V.Sion who actually uses it as an attack string now and then.

WHIFF CANCEL~~~!!!11!!~!~

Are you sure its not that the 2a is recovering fast enough?

LOL. youre fired for not knowing this. Its not whiff cancel.

Try 2AB 5A (misses)2C while the 5A is still out and notice how you can’t chain back to 2A even though the 5A whiffed.

you can also try 2C 5A(misses) 5C with shiki. Note how you cannot chain back to 2C again unless you let the 5A completely finish.

In the same way you can cancel the 5A’s animation to a shield. Try 2C 5A whiff tap shield and notice how the shield animation comes out even before the 5A is done animating.

this is also why V.Sion’s 5A -> 5C works. She’s starting the 5C from where her 5A animated, not from neutral state, hence the added forward range.

This technique is how Saiyd always shields your Ciel’s EX heiros on wakeup even though he threw out an A attack and should be getting punished – he doesn’t need to wait for his 2A to finish animating, he just presses shield, canceling the 2A into it.

All A’s have a recovery time that can be canceled into anything. Go to training mode and turn on status display. Do a jumping, standing, crouching A and watch the bar turn blue. That’s where you can freely cancel into anything.

Thats literally whiff canceling.

Whiff cancelling is when you cancel into a move that will whiff on purpose, but you will recover soon enough to continue a combo or string.

This was very useful in previous versions to extend combos. The common example was 2C into 2A (whiff), 2C (OTG) launcher > air combo.

Match videos? anyone?
