Melty Blood ReACT: Final Tuned Open Discussion

I think her 236+A/B/C should be used more, I tend to use it to keep away / defend, and even if it trades it’s almost always in my favor in terms of damage. That’s if the other guy is going crazy whiff canceling 2c 50,000 times in a row.

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Blood wave for keepaway? You sure you don’t mean 214 blood rings?

Yeah I’m talking about blood wave. If you time it right it hits your opponent out of whatever string they were doing, and keeps them away. Or rather, I use it best to ‘disrupt’ their flow / the momentum they had going. It’s obviously not guaranteed, but it’s a quirky thing I do from time to time.

;p

That move sucks :stuck_out_tongue: seriously. It’s cute maybe 1 in 5 matches but too many people can jump over it easily, and god forbid you start one just as they were going to try a jump in rather then a dash in.
I guess if you KNEW they were gonna dash…

It bothers me that in this game 95% of the time people’s (at the least the ones I play) approach is simply run in and crouch jab. Most jabs just whiff crouching oponents, and correct me if I’m wrong, but there is no crouch damage bonus is there?

By the way, my main is probably Warc, but I want to use Arc better and I want her my main.

LOL, somehow that guy smelt the circuit spark and evaded it. That was pretty sick.

That strategy is way too limited. Shield > run in spam A. Seriously, in the matches me and Zar have going for dash 2A every time is a recipe for disaster. You have to mix it up with moves that are low shield only/moves that are high shield only/throws/baits.

I know the move sucks, but generally speaking the other guy is going to attempt to run in on you / dash / IAD and not keep their distance unless they’re playing Chaos. In that sense I don’t think the move is 100% useless either.

;p

I really don’t feel like reading the whole thread at this moment, however I simply want to know how to get bonus costumes, know any hidden characters, and any codes besides fighting giant tohno or whatever her name is. Thanks a lot! By the way, I’d like to challenge anyone who lives in NYC (5 boroughs,) have laptop with PS2>USB (2 players,)… will travel.

There’s no bonus costumes, but if you meant colors their already there. At the character selection screen you can cycle through them by pressing the shield button.

As for the secret characters, besides G.Akiha you can play as Neko Arc (she’s that Arcuied sprite you see in some of Ren’s special moves). I think to play her you have to beat all of the story arcs in story mode which is tedious, so some people made a patch that automatically makes those characters playable (sorry, I got it from this thread but I don’t have the link). Although, I’m sure G.Akiha is not originally a playable character (note: I’ve never played story mode ever).

Well for the costumes, if I cycle through them, there’s about 3 or 4 that say I can’t access them (in Japanese) and it shows one of the characters in a deformed way. (I do mean the costume COLORS, and not an actual costume.)

All 4 extra bonus colors are there in FT. All you do is press shield till you get to the 5th-8th colors. You can’t actually see the color itself in the model since French Bread didn’t make new portraits for colors 5-8 but you’ll see the difference in match.

Helgen, come to the CF tournament this Saturday and I’ll see if a few locals (ie: VIC / Sp00ky) can bring MB :D!

It’s not saying you can’t access them. its just informing you they are the final tuned only colors. They don’t show up on the character select screen because of how they were programed in, but do show up in the actual matches.

Why isn’t Ciel top-tier, and who are her bad matchups?

She seems like she has crazy-good crossups/mixup. Is zoning her weakness?

Also, is her QCF+C super invicible on startup? And does her flashkick have any?

Ciel has a bad matchup against anyone with a good bara cancel. Shiki is horrible for her, warc gives her fits, and satsuki ruins her day. It doesn’t help that all 3 of these characters consistently do good damage and ciel’s scaling is awful.

QCF+C is invincible to everything pretty much. You can throw her on the first possible frame which is so unlikely that actually doing it glitches the game (i’m serious). Biggest problem is that because jabs are cancellable to shield in the middle of the animation, wakeup qcf+c is a pretty BAD idea overall. However, she can hit confirm it at any range off stand c -> stand c if the dagger hits which is pretty useful and will nail you some so-so full screen range damage.

She has a wakeup game on par with most of the other characters and better then a chunk of the cast even. Jump B is imo the best crossup in the game period. Unfortunately against the characters who can bara her block string options are a little more limited.

Lesson #1 in playing Ciel: Stand C -> Stand C in blockstrings is like giving your opponent free damage. Only do it if they aren’t in range to bara cancel or you think you have them figured out and they won’t be ready to buffer it.

Lesson #2 in playing Ciel: Forget what you learned fighting scrubs. QCF+C on wakeup is a bad idea and will get you killed dead while giving the opponent some nice free meter in the process.

If you’re going to take that risk believe it or not, the flash kick is a slightly better idea though still way too risky to throw out more then like once every few matches or if you’re desperate.

Back+C - omg, a melty blood character with an anti air! It’s good but not abusable, use it, don’t get baited.

She has some wakeup tricks that take practice to do consistently but are worth it. in the corner on opponent wakeup you can do crouch C -> crouch C then overhead them with the dive or choose to go low with crouch A – fast and tricky to block.

After her air throw in her bnb if you have the opponent cornered, you can go for a sick high/low involving early airdash -> jump C (hits meaty high) or slightly delay the airdash, whiff air C and go for meaty low A.

Then when the opponent finally learns to stop trying to do wakeup anything that isn’t an EX, you fake the mixup and throw the shit out of them. Repeatedly. She’s definately got her weaknesses, but she can get in your head, and once she’s there, you lose.

What the hell is bara cancelling?

And how is her backdash?

Is there a general site for MB stuff? I’m just playing it with friends and watching match vids-- which is fine for learning combos, and what not to do, but it leaves you wondering why better players don’t do things that you think would be obvious.

Her backdash is average. itll dodge stuff but its not amazing.

Bara cancelling = cancel a shield bunker into an ex move. punishes moves that are safe on block technically but have long recovery.

Hey guys, is it even possible to BSC with Ciel’s QCF+C? The only input method that would allow for the move to come out properly, I think, would require you to be able to cancel pre-super jump frames. I’m guessing that’s not possible in this game huh?

Thanks. You’ve been helpful super++.
