Melty Blood ReACT: Final Tuned Open Discussion

Chipping normals are worth knowing so that you include them in your chains I guess. Otherwise yeah chip damage isn’t that important.

Anyone know how I can get my stick to work on this game? I have a usb/ps2 adapter but when I plug it in and start the game, it just makes me duck… I can set the buttons fine, but can’t move. Is there maybe a controller config for XP out there somewhere that can fix this? I really want to play

Your converter probably maps your D-pad (aka, your Digital stick) to a HAT or buttons, and maps the non existant analog sticks to X/Y.

Check the control panel and see if you can switch them. If not, you can get a program like joy2key and map the directions to keyboard inputs and that will work.

Also just make sure it’s calibrated right in the control panel to begin with.

thnx linalys for the explanation, i did get ur video of the site it was just my net that was acting weird, and good job btw i like it, now i have an arsenal of combos to practice from. A question though, wuts the diff between 2.501a and 2.501b? cuz i wanna try sum satsuki combos but i heard they nerfed her on 2.501b, is 2.501a any different?

2.501b is just a bugfix of 2.501a. AFAIK no system changes.

Yeah, that’s exactly what it does. I can’t calibrate the directions because since they read as button presses, the screen moves forward. I looked at the joy2key thing, but isn’t there anything I can use that doesn’t involve learning Linux?

uncle ZARs random frame data challenge!!

ok kiddies, b4 i begin the exam i just wanna point out.

lin: thanx 4 7ya combo upgrade from my last post. i belive i tried this combo b4 (pre-post), but couldnt get it to work. is there some sort of strict timing for buffing after the 5b in the (2b>5b) juggle? if u can, post a replay so that i can c how its done :karate:

about me posting an in-depth strat guide 4 v.sion, aint gonna happen. im just too damn lazy and i type way too slow for this to happen. + i have limited access to internet (yay library!!). instead, i’ll just make replays @ spooky’s (thank u in andvance  ) and explain each 1 BRIEFLY. i really like this char now and im really looking forward to timer-burning my opponents in MBAC ( )

lets begin…

  1. where can i get THE BEST (english) melty blood (game) related info?

2)spooky tells me theres an irc for MBR. dont know too much about irc or the group, but i definitely wanna get down. help.

3)what programs r used (if any) to tally frame rates in fighting games?

4)is there frame data avail for specials , exs, throws, etc. im currently aware of site1019.

5)any1 know character stading frames (who gets up fastest/slowest). w. ren gets up REALLY slow , ggrrrr. annoying!

6)i just became aware of this. last arcs have start up. what i mean is , after the shield input , it takes time b4 the LA is registered. i would try to option select w/ the shield by doing 5/2d>2a and it always accepted 1st. whats the duration of time between shield and LA.

more frame data questions…

7)whats the duration of time between a shield input and actually sheilding a move. sometimes i just get striaght up dissed on shield attempts.

and lastly…

8)(sorry) . for natural launchers (i.e. v.sion/sion 3b, warakia 6c, miyako 6c, etc) how much time is alloted before u can super jump cancel and not normal jump cancel.

just had to mention, v.sion is the ONLY char in the game w/ BDC on blocked/hit normals. kinda interesting.

ok, when u r complete, put your pens down and turn your papers over.

p.s. i dont know the answers to these questions. x_x

biscuit…baked

You have to do 2b as late as possible after 214b, cancel 5b immediately into EX Kick (if you don’t do either of these first two, you’ll probably juggle them high enough to be able to tech out of EX Kick), and you have very little time to stick out the 2a before they hit the ground. Everything else is cake!

Edit: Forgot the link

  1. Do you want information about the MB (and Tsukihime by relation) world? Spooky listed the Moonlight World on the first post. You’ll probably find anything you’re looking for there.

  2. There is an irc room for meltyblood. It’s #meltyblood on EFNet. As with all irc rooms though, talk will vary and people may or may not be there.

  3. If you’re looking for something to help you count frames to analyze frame data, I dunno any. But if all you want is frame rate, well the game already counts FPS for you.

  4. I don’t follow frame data and as such know of no such site.

  5. Before in v2.009a it was like
    Slow:
    Hisui
    MeHisui
    Arc

Fast:
Satsuki
Ren
Miyako

and everyone else in between. But now in FT everyone seems to get up quicker and fast enough to the point I really don’t think it’s worth trying to figure out.

  1. I’m not sure why you would ever want to cancel last arc. AFAICT all of them are instant/hit instantly save Miyako’s (the fact of which I made fun of in Volume 3) even MHisui’s! Poor Miyako. But yeah, LA will activate when shield is over. Shields last like a few frames or something so as long as you don’t cancel a shield into something else LA will go off after the shield’s active frames run out. Not even an A attack will recover in time to guard against an instant last arc.

  2. I believe shielding isn’t instant, and the startup of a shield is not in anyway protected. How much startup and active time? I have no idea what the precise numbers are.

  3. I can’t super jump in time to combo off of a natural launcher. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t just do a persuit jump or a normal jump. Is there a specific character/combo you had in mind?

  1. There’s a ~14F hit-pause after a shield. If you’ve buffered a move any time during this, it will come out on F15. If you have not canceled into anything on the 15th frame, it executes the LA. LA’s seem to have some start up after super flash, but Sion’s only seems to have ~3, so I would guess others are similar.

  2. Shield has 1F startup (blocking has 0). There seems to be a 2F wakeup invincible period though, so reversal shielding seems possible. Should also mention that if you are at neutral and you are hit out of the startup of your shield, you will see a glow effect emit from your character anyway.

This is something I’ve been waiting for.

Makes sense to have this in AC since you have a timer, but in FT, heh I guess.

Hrmm. I was hoping there was at least one crazy japanese with a programmable stick and video capture capabilities, but maybe were on our own I guess.

I do lots of frame data analysis for other fighting games. You don’t really need a programmable stick for most things, unless there’s something really weird you are doing (j.D cancels in #R for example).

In this case a programable stick would make otherwise ridiculously hard to do super double jump combos work.

This question isn’t completely related to the game, but I figured that this would be the best place to ask. I just finished watching Shingetsutan Tsukihime, but I’m confused about something (well, more than just one thing, but this is in regards to the game.) There are still plenty of characters in MB that weren’t in Tsukihime. Are those characters only in the manga, or did they come from somewhere else?

Vman can have fun AGAIN with this one. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s pretty cool Blood, but I guess you would be stuck on things like testing throw priority, where you need input for both character’s at the same time.

Hey Spooky, you mean like Sol’s quad dust loop? I have never seen this done in a match ever. Must be piss-balls-on hard to do.

Characters unique to MB:
Sion - introduced in Melty Blood, she is canon now.
Warakia - He might have existed in the Tsukihime world before MB (through vague mentions), but MB truly fleshed him out and gave us his story.
MHisui - introduced in Melty Blood, she is a joke character not canon.

White Ren / Shiki Nanaya / VeSion / Aka Akiha / Warcueid

All were introduced as part of Melty Blood’s storyline. Most of them are just palette swaps to artifically inflate the character count. Aka Akiha is arguably the only real person.

Thanks for the heads up. I was really surprised that Sion was introduced in MB considering she seems to be such a prominent character. I kept expected to see her in Tsukihime.

Super doublejump requires you to press your up tap for doublejump for only one frame. It allows some people to extend their air combos, because they can do jump (normals) SDJ (more normals) and use the extra height from SDJ to airdash (more normals) airthrow.

Not every character can SDJ. There was a list in the old thread that maybe should get carried over at some point if i can find it.

To some degree I can do both players at once. I could probably test throws, but I don’t know what you mean by “priority”.

Quad Dust Loop isn’t the same thing, that’s a product of Jump Install. It’s actually pretty easy to do a SDJ in GG once you learn to JI and 1-Hit JI.
The reason you don’t see many uses of Quad Dust Loop is because, in generally, there’s no reason to use it. Usually you’ve got someone low enough to do double hit reps, or if they are a weird shape (Axl/Dizzy) or heavy (Johnny/Potemkin), you can do triple hit reps. Quads are just weird and I couldn’t tell you a situation where I’d use one offhand (not including the varient inside of his Dust combo).

Off topic question: Has anyone played Fatal/Fake yet? How bad is it, because there’s no possible way it could be worse that Fate Sword/Dance.
