Do people still play this game?
Yes but no.
No one can ever say it’s a dead game though.
It’s more aptly undead.
Whenever I can, but not many people to play anymore. Still think it’s one of the best games out there.
Just go to the #mbaa chan on mizuumi irc server and try to find people you get reasonable delay with. That and/or wait for EC majors that people who give a half a shit about the game will hold side tourneys at.
Melty is still a main game at philly majors~
Yeah you’re right, tri-state area is p much american meltyland, if I could justify moving to Philly I almost would lol. Wish I could’ve made NEC, my room was under another dude’s name and he cancelled it last minute due to extenuating circumstances orz. Thankfully I should be able to make Winter Brawl to get my amine on whoop whoop.
@MegaMettaurX check the regional section in http://www.meltybread.com/forums/ to see if there’s anybody relatively near you. At worst you might still be able to get a decent connection with somebody.
Melty I think is one of the most solid fighters out there that is extremely underrated/underexposed…but yeah, with lacking netplay and not many people playing, it seems pretty dead to me.
Bump
Does anyone know the default controller layout for the PS2 versions? Mostly for the ABCD buttons. I am a pad player that always plays on default controls.
I play it. One of the best games in the genre period. Online is only getting better and better recently with the caster which is another huge plus. Soon rollback…
RIP MB
Fun game. Not many in the current community care enough to “go in” on it anymore though. PC release, poor netcode, and no backing by companies are the culprits IMO. I could be wrong though…
It seems like a hassle to have to connect via direct IP.
I can’t even connect to anyone at all when searching for a match lol
If I recall, the default PS2 Layout is:
Square : A
Triangle : B
Circle : C
X : D
I might have switched around the Triangle and X inputs but that’s how it is.
Since I was a GGXX Pad (albeit scrub) pad player back in the day, this configuration feels more comfortable for me to loop ABC like combos:
Square : A
X : B
Triangle : C
Circle : D
Kinda like how in GGXX that Punch was Square, Kick was X, and Slash was Triangle.
Nowadays I just play MB on stick with default arcade layout though.
Alright cool, I’ve had it like that actually.
Thanks
once in a while tournaments take place there.
Though CCCaster was a pain to set up and ensure a smooth connection
