Melee or Street Fighter: Which requires more technical skill? Any Thoughts?

Why is everyone still discussing this? Don’t bring yourself down to smash games level, just let them play their own thing.

Next time you have a smash player get into top 8 in street fighter tournament, then we can talk about smash.

I still don’t get all the fuss about a party game that players butchered up with rules and restrictions and exploits to make it “competitive”, defeating the entire purpose of the series.

yeah just have fun with it, like DDR and guitar hero.

??shoryu, thanks for also contributing to soiling the crap reputation that SSB scene already has. You have no right to say anyone is butthurt, hell, do you even go to tournaments? If so, you probably also witnessed grown men throw their controllers AND cry over a loss.

The Super Smash Bros. series is fun hands down. Not only do you get to play as Nintendo characters from back in the day to now, but you could modify your rules so you could have the craziest games and play it with anyone, even with family. I find tournaments enjoyable solely because a lot of people play it, and in that pile, I happen to meet some pretty cool people. Everyone else…no comment to be honest.

However, as someone in the Smash Scene, and as hard as I’ve tried, I can’t acknowledge it as a true fighting game. Playing it competitively and getting cash? Fine, that’s your own preference. Acknowledging it as the greatest and most technical fighting game ever? HELL NO. I only agree with the other smashers on SmashBoards and AllisBrawl just so I don’t cause major butthurt or get into a debate. Regardless, I still do. I’m the same chick that closed the Evo thread on SmashBoards just by saying knowledge of items was true skill.

You could NEVER have an intelligent, hell even a fun, conversation about fighting games with a smasher (unless they’re included in the rare batch of awesome people). What else do they play? Street Fighter IV…and the other pile of games they’ve abandoned. Only fighting game that’s safe from smashers is Tekken, but that’s because they think it’s a scrubbiest fighting game ever.

(tl;dr 99% of smashers suck and lack sense in fighting games.)

Sorry to vent out with a wall of text. But damn, I cannot wait until I get my hands on Blazblue, KOFXII, and Tekken 6.

This thread is pointless now, im done trying to help the smash fans out. If smash got smashboards, why post a topic here when you know you’re gonna get anally flammed?

Btw I play more traditional fighters than smash, huge kof, sf3 fan.

End of thread

Direction+B, Toss out the arena, Final Destination and Fox. There I pretty much described Smash in every aspect. Fuck Smash.

There wouldn’t be an issue with Smash if they didn’t try and insinuate themselves into the community of real fighting games, and then get indignant about anything said or done to the contrary on their imaginary turf.

The fact is that Smash Bros is over-legislated, which is stupid in itself. You can’t deny that.

Truth.

Damn, I can’t wait until someone on AllisBrawl or SmashBoards sees this. I went through so much hell in this one blog when someone complained “SRK Hates Us”.

And at Genesis, I felt like I was one of the only people using counterpicks. :crybaby:

Oh and the Back Room of SmashBoards is basically the pro/cool club where all rules are determined, and everyone else follows like sheep AND are aware of it.

Street fighter. how hard is it to do UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT+B in smash bros? not very hard to do people!

Don’t demean the counter-Smash viewpoint by saying stupid things like this.

ok whatever. but you all know the moves in smash bros aren’t that HARD to do.

None of the moves in SF2 are that hard to do.

except double 360’s, and that stupid flash kick super motion. I dont get why capcom didn’t just assign it to qcbx2+K. hella easier than whatever it is now.

If NHL 2k10 has a separate “fight mode,” where two players duke it out, would NHL 2k10 be a fighting game? If not, explain why.

Then is HD Remix not a fighting game?

I’m not doing much in Smash’s defense, but it is one of the funnest games I’ve ever played and that’s all that matters. My best times were playing all three iterations of Smash Bros.

To me it isn’t as complex as other fighting games, but that’s coming from a casual gamer who hasn’t played SFIV or KOF to its full potential either. But there’s no reason to bash the game. I do think its great.

I just read the first post but im sure the Thread start got lots of nice words.:china:

Sagat. DPFADCULTRAFTW

i just discribed SF4…anyone can talk shit

both games have a shit ton of moves, and take plenty of time to learn and even longer to get good at

each game has its downfall, and each person has a preference.

ppl refuse to play brawl because its not like melee

shit ppl dont play sf4 cuz its not like 3s

everyone is gonna always find a way to talk shit

but in all seriousness when getting asked which game takes more technical skill

brawl takes the cake. directional influence alone gives brawl the win

ugh.
