Megaupload shut down

Yeah, wikipedia I know…

As much as I’m hating on the U.S government for their constant intrusion on basic rights, I think they had reasonable cause to arrest this man…

Maybe they weren’t targeting the company, they were targeting him…

I personally loved the Megaupload service, although the guy behind it is a career criminal… he’s a scumbag… but his service was soooo great…

Morally correct to want this man arrested, yes… ethically correct… nah… he was encouraging the upload of pirated materials… if they just allowed him to keep going, people would have access to anything they wanted…

Again, they had reasonable cause to arrest him… but damn, Megaupload you will be missed…

They arrested him and he was a career criminal, but they didn’t arrest him because he was a career criminal.

:u:

btjunkie “voluntarily” close down recently but I see nobody on srk noticed. Guess y’all using some other site for downloading

Saw that and it made me sad. They had a bunch of old Ps1 games there. RIP to the homies.

I replaced btjunkie with demonoid a while ago. Now I just need a place to find porn.

I will die laughing if he sues and wins, and gets megauploads back on the web

demonoid is…slow

best torrent site I ever used is iptorrents. shit is cray! sometimes I get like 6-7mb/sec download!!

I haven’t had any problems with Demonoid and speed for most torrents. Since Demonoid doesn’t enforce uploading and keeping a high ratio it can be bad for older stuff and I’m sure there are better sites out there. I use ComicBT for comics and BakaBT for anime so I’ve got my bases covered for the most part.

I prefer mediafire anyway.

I got booted from an “enforced uploads” site (The Empire) cuz of a stupid technicality. I dled the entire 3 seasons of Watership Down from 1 seeder, but since I was the only person who wanted it, there was nobody else to seed TO, so my ratio dropped into the negative numbers pretty hard and I got a “Get outta here, ya bum!”. Still, beats only being able to find a fraction of each season on overpriced dvd at amazon (no box set for this series). I like to think I used The Empire for all they were worth, got what I wanted, and got booted too late. And likewiser, no probs w/Demonoid. That’s my go-to site. I need one that’s reliable for audiobooks, though…

So… We may get our free hd porn back and be able to watch our favourite tv shows online when they are released again?

Even if the case failed he hasn’t paid his hosting bills, though they probably still have the data since there’s a criminal case involved and rarely is something truly deleted in hosting, there’s no way he could get megaupload back to its former glory. The damage is done.

uhh, yes he can. have you seen how horrible all other DDL sites are? relatively all filehost sites making you input 2 captchas and then wait 30 minutes minimum between dls? (except rapidshare which is not letting free users dl faster than 30kb/s?)

Yeah second best is Mediafire. Fileserve, Hotfile, etc are a close second if you use JDownloader to manage shit.

yeah, mediafire is good, but only 200mb limit. fileserve/hotfile/etc make you wait even with jdownloader

Megauploads may never go to trial:

and Kim Dotcom’s press statement:

I guess thats what happens when you try to change the recording industry paradigm bruv.

yeah, that was pretty much a gift to Hollywood. It was “sorry about sopa, here we will fucking annihilate one of the big guns for ya”

“This could lead one to wonder whether the whole setup was to simply destroy Mega’s businesses.”

understatement of the year.

he pretty much is laughing at their lack of a case against him, and how many laws they broke to even arrest him in the first place.
