Megaupload shut down

My max download on megaupload was 5mb per second with my connection. Now I’m reduced to shitty 400kbs

Where/what brand do you guys your external hard drives from?

These are dark times we live in… dark times…

I should spend my entire tax return on 3TB drives just to send a fuck you to this, the SOPA bill, that other one that they might try to pass, and the entire mentality that actually thinks it an stop filesharing, anonymous internet, and/or hacking. LOL @ preventing hacking.

Now is not a good time to buy hard drives. The prices still haven’t gone down and won’t for another 4-6 months most likely (they’re 200-300% of the regular price, closer to 300%…). But if you do find one at a reasonable prices, by all means go for it. I knew I should have bought more hard drives before the prices went up.

Unsurprisingly, Megaupload is setting itself back up again.

Be careful with that, won’t be clicking the link because found this on an anime forum I occasionally go to, might be worth running your anti-virus program if you’ve been there.

Of course I might be wrong and it might be a legit new one, but wouldn’t take that risk just yet.

Well at least Filesonic isn’t ‘shut down’…wonder if they’ll follow upload.to’s route and not work for US =/?
If only this day would come-

Sorry for the double post but…

anime forums are filled with the most intelligent posters imaginable.

so far

Megaupload – Closed
Fileserve – Stopped filesharing. You can only download your own files. Deleting multiple files. Banning Premium accounts. Closed Affiliate Program.
Filesonic – Stopped filesharing. You can only download your own files. Changed server location today. Taken down it’s Facebook page. Now using Digital fingerprinting. Files are being deleted as soon as uploaded (as Hotfile did).
VideoBB – Closed Affiliate Program.
Filepost – Started suspending accounts with infringing material (as Hotfile did)
Uploaded.to – Blocked U.S. access.
Videozer – Closed Affiliate Program.
Filejungle – Owned by Fileserve (same as above). Testing USA IP addresses blocking.
Uploadstation – Owned by Fileserve (same as above). Testing USA IP addresses blocking.
EnterUpload - Down (Redirect)
Wupload - Many accounts disabled.

Whaaaa, Wupload too?

yeah, everybody is closing up shop, which for most of these sites is essentially suicide. Several sites will likely STILL get charged by the government too.

I like this though: https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions/!/petition/investigate-chris-dodd-and-mpaa-bribery-after-he-publicly-admited-bribing-politicans-pass/DffX0YQv?utm_source=wh.gov&utm_medium=shorturl&utm_campaign=shorturl

they need another 8000 signatures before the White House HAS to respond to it.

And so begins World Wide Web War 1.
God help us all…

wow that could have been spoilered, especially when people are replying to it and keeping it in the reply.

Wil Wheaton speaks up:

Don’t quote images. It’s in the rules that you agreed to. My god.

I hate my government.

This thing is really getting outta of hand, there must be a way to save the internet.

You mean you hate bankers’ and businessmen’s government.

You haven’t GOT a government.

Sent from reality, using LolWtfIsThisShitTalk.

This is getting ridiculous. My main source of small mkv movies, Fileserve, is gone. I want my internet back.

What the hell is making so many sites shut down to begin with? Does Megaupload’s bust just have everyone shook, or was the bust on some charge they could all technically catch? From what I heard, there was some buildup to this. MU is alleged to have made over 100M from copyright infringing or something.
