Hey, Upas, you still doing dual mods for TEs?
Yessir, I am.
DevilJin: I have a strong suspicion that the problem has something to do with the triggers and resistors on them. I wish I had a multimeter, but I’ll do my best without.
EDIT: I -might- not be able to come tomorrow. I hope to be there though!
Check your PMs, Upas.
Do you think the triggers may have shorted the stick out entirely? Cuz that’s where I’m at now is a stick that doesn’t work period. At least on 360 and probably not PS3 either cuz the 360 will still detect unknown devices and doesn’t detect when I switch to PS3.
Depending on what happens I should be at X30 either at opening around 3 or a bit later around 5 or 6 depending on what happens. For anyone who definitely wants to come out tomorrow all the info is on the previous page.
Does the 360 board get power when you plug it in? Check the switch to make sure the the D+/D- lines were not disconnected as well.
Yeah I don’t see anything on the board that looks like it’s getting power when I plug it in. On my old stick I could tell if the the PS1 PCB wasn’t receiving power/info since the red analog light would be turned off. I have no idea what you mean by D+/- lines LOL. I’ll just bring the stick to C3 so you can diagnose it I guess. I definitely don’t think it’s the cord this time cuz that’s what got messed up the last time and the new cord fixed that. This is something different I believe.
I’ve decided to set up my own training system to mastering a stick as fast as possible. Feel free to add any exercises you guys may think would be beneficial to increasing my accuracy and skill on the stick. I’ll set it up like a “Trials” to make it more fun. Also, if you guys want to add any exercises, rate it from anything between Easy, Intermediate, and Hard.
I know this sounds cheesy, but I have to go into this with a plan. I hate not being able to measure my work so this will help set a goal for me to obtain while naturally training my hands to move in the right motion.
QCF Motion (Easy)
As Ryu, throw 25 consecutive hadoukens in one direction. Then repeat in the opposite direction.
SRK Motion (Easy)
As Ryu, do 25 consecutive SRK’s in one direction. Then repeat in the opposite direction.
**
Ultra Motion (Intermediate)**
As Ryu, do 25 Ultra’s in one direction. Then repeat in the opposite direction.
Can’t really think of anymore at the moment but feel free to add more to it. I’m taking this very seriously. :lame:
edit: Quick question. When doing the inputs for specials, is it more efficient to have the last button press be on a separate line? For example, when I hadouken, should the punch and forward motion be on the same line or should they be separate? Does it even matter?
For the input question it doesn’t really matter since the game gives you so much time to hit punch (compared to other sf games) after a qcf motion that your hadoken will come out either way. If you hit punch right after the hadoken motion…you’ll get a fireball. If you wait a split second after and hit punch…you’ll probably still get a fireball.
This is probably the easiest SF game to use a stick with ever. Which the reason for that being was they wanted to make the game easier for pad users and that inevitably made using a stick even easier as well. Circular motions like SPD’s come out way easier in this game than any SF game ever and that’s usually considered by scrubs as one of the hardest things to perform on a pad in SF (if you’re just talking special move wise it technically is). The funny thing is the better you get with the stick the more you’ll notice the easy commands getting in the way with what you’re trying to do and then you’ll have to find ways to work around the game shortcutting you into doing different things.
Why be slow when you can be fast? Have them be on the same line.
Hit the diagonals without hitting any of the cardinal directions, 100 consecutive times.
Do a QCF without hitting the restricter plate 100 consecutive times.
etc, etc
edit: though being this precise with a joystick might not matter for SF4.
I don’t know if it matters or not, but it’s supposed to be on the same line. It could be different…
And setting up your own little training program is good. Take things one step at a time and at your own pace. You’ll get the hang of it. And once you do, you’ll realize that playing on stick is SOOOO much easier than playing on a pad.
If you really want to get good at using stick, practice with SF2. I can barely play 3s with my stick, still can’t get that qcfx2 motion down perfectly.
I think I should be able to goto X3O. Is there anything good to eat around that area? Not too sure where this place is on Rockville pike.
U already got the address right? It’s just a bit past the intersection where Montrose Rd is. Basically just past the Mid Pike shopping center with the Toys R Us and Chipotle and all that. Right next to a stand alone Arby’s and Popeyes. The shopping center that X30 specifically is at is a small one with about 10 or so stores including a Papa Johns and some vegetarian restaurant.
I’ll be there right when they open at 3 but only for an hour to test my old stick on the PS3. My briefcase is dead so hopefully Upas can stop by later on to diagnose something. Otherwise I’ll be there starting at 6 until they close.
I’ll be there at 3 today…
Corrosive, check your PM’s.
Oh man…I started doing this with half circle motions. Those motions eat me alive, so I noticed that my problem with them is that I try to feel the plate when I’m doing it. I finally noticed I can do a tiny half circle, and its helping.
i might come to this… haven’t touched sf4 in like 3 months but yea ^^
I’ll be there after work, around 3 or 4
shiet. kind of 50/50 right now on today. I do have a pretty nice matco digital multimeter though, if i can make it out ill bring it up for upas to use.
I may can stop by for an hour maybe around 3 or 4, but I dont have my stick with me…
Might be able to make it by today, not sure though. It all depends on how things go with the other stuff i have planned. I want to go though. hopefully i can make it before 10.
I need to know if someone is up there now, otherwise Im not walking over. Probably will not be able to make it this week.
