THERES UNITY GIMPY.
I mean i brought beltway to gametime: steve, marc, drew, dre and myself. And cats that were already “tight knit” enbraced us as friends. We got cool. Now we go over each other houses to play or chill or smoke (well thats jus me an eric valencia). But yes its a unity. I dont hear anyone coming down to GT scream
“YALL CANT FUCK WIT_______ARCADE (insert arcade name)”
Plus I saw it up at ECC7 how we basically stuck with each other. And if you notice at tournaments. Sure we will talk to the “outsiders” but you noticed that we give “only the GT family” tips an blueprints. Its all about sittin back and lookin Gimpy
Like on 3s, you and shinshay can laugh and play a “tournament round” an still have fun doing it. While if it was somebody you dont know you would have a serious "i dont give a fuuuuccc bout ya " expression an tone.

Sure cats from SOVA (with an exception of a few like BLT) an other places an say they cool, but were talkin bout on a weekly, weeknight, weekend basis. I can call you or call shinshay, or whoever an meet an chill. Thats all. I personally think we are.

True. It’s like when you play against your boy or someone you know well, y’all can lunch around and bullshit during the match. I’ve been playing Shin in fighting games for 10 years. Basically we know each others playing style very well. It wasn’t until I say 97 when i could beat him with at least 2-3 wins in a row. If we played the 50 games, he would have a slighty big lead but back in the day that lead was like a college football score.:lol: But when I play against somebody I know of but don’t know them like that then I turn serious as a heart attack. That’s how I was up in Philly last monday(7/22/02). And I feel you on the tips thing. See I would give you or any GT player, that I like, pointers on what to do but if it’s someone else that’s from out of state or not a gt regular, I feel weird about giving them tips.

Hey…I just moved in to MD…are there any arcades in here? And where are tournaments held?
Arcades and MD just dont seem to mix :bluu: The only decent ones around are crazy johns in the city and virtual fun(i think thats what its called) in the towson mall. White marsh is questionable, but they got a good t4 machine. Crazy johns is the only good place in MD with cvs2, and towson is sorta the mecca of mvc2 players in MD/baltimore area.
Tournaments are held at gametime in VA and me and the boys in MD hold tourneys at my man’s house. Check out our post in tournaments and events called dirties days 4. We get a pretty good turnout, around 20-30 people. We hold it about every month and we’re always lookin for new faces.

theres also eastpoint mall arcade, which has ddr5th, theres another ddr 2/3 korean cabinet in the mall somewhere, plus mvc2 and soul calibur 2[im pretty sure], and tekken 4

As much as i would love to say that thereis unity in the MD/VA family sadly there is none. I mean if we go out of state we all stay tight but in state the only thing that most people worry aout is how they can get better not how we can all get better.....
Most people in this area want to have a strangle-hold on the this little meaningless area instead of having a hold on the EC. Other clicks such as CF and them boys in philly are much more like a family than we are (not saying we need to go to dinner an shit but we need more unity) what makes it worse is that we are a small region and instead of our good players playing together we form little clicks and fight each other.
So if there is all this in house battling and it's not even like we a fighting with a goal in mind people just wanna be like i'm the best in the MD/VA area. I mean i think there are a few people that are willing to help people out Sparatic, myself, EE, Rick other than that most people seem stingy with the things thatthey find out. I remember at MWC Sparatic was about to fight and i told him how to beat hibiki my main character for free, how many people would be willing to do that to see one of there own suceed. That is what unity is about being able to give away your greatest tips,tricks,secrets to help out one of your own. So to me there is no unity at all.

Very good point. I feel somewhat the same way. I also think the geographic limitations are an issue.
I think tripleagent brings up a good point, the players in MD are scattered about every which way, so we cant really all vibe together. I don’t think there’s too much beef around MD(although im still new to the tournament scene). Im always down for helpin out a fellow baltimorian, and now that im finally out of highschool i can go to tournaments at will. Let’s jumpstart this MD unity!(if the egos around here can evern not clash…)
The players in VA and SOMD are scattered worse.
we are not scattered like they are scattered in Ny we all drive and have means of tranportion there is no one that lives farther than and hour away not to mention that the other people are right along the way it would be no problem together and have daily practice sessions it’s the only way that we can get nice at the games that we play.
