I think that both C3 and X3O are great options. I think, with all the MD arcades being shut down, this is the best viable option for tourney venues. We are both trying to give back to our patrons. You should check us both out. I know June 10 they are doing an event. We are doing our second event to sponsor someone to Evo on June 18th. We are doing our third at VTYME in July (22nd and 23rd). The Global Gaming League (www.ggl.com) is covering our events and will be starting up a fighting game league in the near future. I know X3O is one of the spots that will be hosting said events. Come check us out.
We will also be hosting an AE tourney on the 18th.

Time: Most games will start at 4pm. (i know some people want it earlier, but I have no say in this. I will try to get things running quicker this time, and not let in singles players at 6pm).

Leaving time would be after all tournaments are completed.

yeah, I saw that. I think it’s silly. Those convention tourneys are pretty scrubtacular. I went to magfest a couple of years back, and even though justin was there, I wish I got my money back, shit was like 30 bucks for a bunch of single elim random tourneys w/ no prizes. I think they’re into double elim now, at least.
There’s a couple of things about these that I wonder about these conventions. one is that Empire Arcadia is ALWAYS there. They usually have a booth or something. I think they have some kind of finincial obligation or incentive to be at these places. Why else would a bunch of pro gamers drive past a HUGE tourney in sterling to go to a “gaming convention” in Roanoke. Jeron denied this hypothesis in another thread though.
However, in the future, these types of things may be great for fighting games. Why have tourneys that get 10$ from a few of pro gamers when you could get huge conventions for scores of casual gamers and charge 30 bucks? Setup random DDR, shooters, and Japanese import games, while the tourneys get nice prizes. worth looking into.
If for some reason I can’t get a ride to the tournament then I might be interested in this.
Getting confirmation from the misses (yes when you have a relationship you have to make sure nothing else has been planned for that day) an will let ya know…hell we may both come.

On the contrary Robin, I went the last Fusion tourney and won there 3S and MvC2 tourney and I absolutely had a great time down there. Peeps were mad friendly, hell they even took me to hooters after I won the 3S tourney, now whats not to enjoy about that shit 
. They did change there tourney format from one match to two out of three so no problems there.

I’m not really getting into the concept of the convention, that’s fine. It might be the future of competitive tourneys.
I was just questioning the reasonign of Empire’s attendance. That’s a long way to travel. TFGM gave a big answer over on the Fusion page. Sux that the dates conflict. I wish they would just post the dates of When their tourneys will happen so that doesn’t conflict.
like the 3S disc. I love competitive gaming. but that shit was more boring then CvS2 on the slower speed.

For those coming to the tourney, C3 will be hosting casuals Friday nite, 6/9. It will start at 7-8 o’clock, any game. I will personally bring Slash, ALpha anthology, 3S, among others. I’m sure alot of Guilty Gear people will be in the area. 5$ at the door, play all night. C3 doesn’t usually close on weekends until the last person leaves anyway. Also I will run a poker tourney on Friday 10$ buyin. You don’t have to pay a fee to play poker, but you gotta be playing games, too.
