New VA player hear. I posted a while ago in this thread, and was told Silver Spring was the closest comp from springfield, and I thought SS was way farther than it was, it’s only like a 35 min drive. Is there still comp there? An Arcade? Any bus routes from DC? Yeah North Springfield here too, I play 3s, GGXX, A3, LB2, ST, VF4:evo, MvC2 occasionally, and CvS2 if you have a loaded gun next to my head with 6 bullets in the chamber and a knife to my throat and gay midgets threatening to rape me.
Unfortunately, there are no real arcades in the area. You’ll find a few mall arcades here and there, but the games are usually broken and there is no competition. When Gametime closed down a couple years ago, the MD/NOVA region became a console area like the majority of the country.
Look for posts titled KOOP’S GATHERINGS and BATTLE OF BALTIMORE in this atlantic north forum. Once a month, Koop hosts a large gathering of sf players in the md/va area in his basement. It’s usually the only time we all get together. …and Battle of Baltimore may also turn out to be a monthly event. So keep an eye out for the ‘next gathering’ or ‘battle’.
Yep. I just had a “Battle of B-more” this Saturday - started late - but went well, just wish some more marvel comp came thru and that peoiple brought consoles like I asked.
Once I look at the “major event” schedule I’ll plan my next one - but I’m trying to hover around the middle of the month…

yo nken, a couple of my friends would be glad to play like during may when school is out. what part of north springfield you live in?
the quannum tour came through 9:30 club last night. DJ Shadow, Gift of Gab, Lyrics Born, etc etc etc… great show.
So check this shit out… They had two big projection screens on both sides of the stage. Shadow brought a DVD turntable… yes, a DVD TURNTABLE! :eek: So during the songs he would scratch the dvd and you would see the video of it moving back and forth. Fucking crazy. example, remember Wild Style where Double Trouble goes “here’s a little story that must be told” he started scratching that and everyone just went bananas. I should have smuggled my camera in and recorded that shit.

anyway…n-ken – i’ll definitely do my best to give you a run for your 3S money. the arcade in silver spring is in a mall called “city place” – it’s metro accessible – Red line to Silver Spring station…after that, it’s about a 5 minute walk. It has 3S, and MVC2…except MVC2 is the most broken piece of shit i’ve ever seen in my life. you tap it and it registers 384923984238947 different directions at the same time =X…but 3S is still pretty functional. island cabinet too, so your eyes won’t get burned out too badly
