So check this out. I’m interviewing for jobs for the summer and even for after graduation because that’s the way they do it here for some reason. I have 16 interviews in 4 days, and that’s not even that many; some people literally have 50. It’s an annoying process, you usually just talk about why you want to be a lawyer, why you want to work in the firm you’re interviewing with, what kind of law you wanna do, all that crap. Anyway.
I put an “interests” line on my resume, and one of the things I put was “tournament-level video gaming.” I’m actually selling myself by talking about Street Fighter, how good of an intellectual workout it is, whatever bs I can think of about what using a crappy character has taught me, etc. I tie it in to how I wanna do technology and internet and intellectual property law, and I’ve even talked about the intellectual property issues inherent in using Capcom’s games in non-Capcom-affiliated tournaments and the conflict a couple years back when Evo was thinking about using Superguns and emulated games. One of the firms I interviewed with had two guys in their mid-20s interviewing me, and it turns out they used to play SF when it came out back in the day, and we had this whole conversation about how great and fun it is, and at the end they said they wished they had a Playstation with them so they could play me, and then one of the dudes gave me his card and said they’d be sure to get back, so I might get a job offer there.
Gogo using Street Fighter tournaments to get a job as an associate at a law firm.
You always have some interesting stories to tell. If I was smart I’d be in the same situation you are. Using SF to get me jobs and stuff. Instead I just work a regular job, eat, sleep and 3S. One of these days I’ll figure out what I wanna do.
DJ bring me some of that steven seagal energy drink if it’s still around. I gotta try out that shit.Ogre says it sucks ass:lol: i wanna see if he aint laying…If ogre is cosider to do good at the nc tourney i’m going for it too in full force in cvs2. I feel the old rockman wanting to come back out and custom combo someone:wgrin:

Wow, that is some hot shit Dave. If you know Isaac Graham, he too had that on his resume. He said that it sparks up interesting conversations within interviews. I think his resume said “East Coast MvC2 champion” lmao.
I wish that I could get a better job, I’ve been trying to work for EMC with Sparatik for over a year I think now. They’ve called me for 2 interviews and still no dice. I don’t know what it is, maybe I’m not a good people person although I thought that the two interviews went quite well. So thats why I am trying to start this arcade, I feel that it can be real profitable since everyone in the tristate community is behind me for sure.
i put “poker” and “computer games” under hobbies and got the job over graduate students because the guys there play poker and computer games… go figure
Guys go over and check out the “Virginia Tri Cities thread” Some scrub from Hopewell VA said he’s better than me… and I challenged him to 8 games, 20$ each, for a total of 160$. See what he says.
Digital Life is a fucking huge gaming event which usually only has tourneys for PC Games. However, this year they will host tourneys for both mvc2 and 3rd strike. There’s actually a post about it in FGD if y’all are interested.
