McDonald's sales in US plummet

In the month of November, fast-food behemoth McDonald’s saw monthly sales at established locations drop globally and in the US by 2.2 percent and 4.6 percent, respectively.

The measure applies to same-store sales, or sales made at all McDonald’s restaurants open at least 13 months, even those that have closed temporarily.

“To restore momentum, McDonald’s US is diligently working to enhance its marketing, simplify the menu and implement a more locally-driven organizational structure to increase relevance with consumers,” the chain said Monday in response to the US decrease.

A chart prepared by Business Insider shows how far the fast-food giant’s same-store sales have tumbled in the past five years.

Analysts had originally predicted a 1.7 percent decline in McDonald’s worldwide same-store sales, according to Consensus Metrix.

The drop is attributed, in part, to increasing competition from the likes of Chipotle restaurant. In the third quarter, Chipotle same-store sales increased by 19.8 percent, while McDonald’s same-store sales fell by 3.3 percent.

A supplier scandal in China is also blamed for impairing McDonald’s global sales numbers. The company’s Asian markets have taken a hit after it was reported that Chinese meat supplier OSI Group LLC was investigated for changing the expiration dates on food, prompting fears among consumers.

In Europe, same-store sales fell 2 percent in November, according to McDonald’s, “as positive performance in the UK was more than offset by very weak results in Russia and negative results in France and Germany.”

Meanwhile, shares of the world’s fast-food leader by revenue fell 2.4 percent in premarket trading, according to Reuters.

McDonald’s and other stalwarts of the fast-food industry have also become the target of a growing movement aimed at increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour, among other labor demands.

Last week, the two-year-old “Fight for 15” campaign organized demonstrations at fast-food restaurants in nearly 200 US cities, according to the group’s accounting.

Cook-Out and Burger King>Mcdonalds any day of the week.

In and Out>everything else

as long as the dollar menu exists, mcdonalds doesnt have anything to worry about

Kinda ironic considering that they used to own Chipotle.

Burger King is the purest definition of "What’s the one thing worst than licking a homeless man’s toes?"
It’s the one place that made me discover that “Projectile Vomitting” wasn’t a figure of speech, it can be very literal, and very frightening.

McDonald’s didn’t own Chipotle. They just invested in it but sold off the stock in 2006.

I made a conscious decision to give up mcdonalds about 4 years ago

when i was living at my dorm room i had a mcdonalds built right across the street from me, Literally right across from me… the lights would be shining on my blinds and i had to use a towel draped over to get some fucking sleep

anyways i used to go there all the time on day and weekdays when i didnt want to eat the cafeteria food and one day i just had a revaluation when i ate my regular meal from them
and i was still hungry
plus i felt like shit the next day and it hurt my track workouts and my study focus

i seen a nigga bounce a french fry off the ground shit has so many preservatives some thing up with that food

IDC what anyone says its a decision i have been happy to make and a healthy one

I do strongly believe that many people are startig to realize how horrible food like mcdonalds are for your body. I know for a fact i used to eat junk food almost daily. Ive since dropped it to once or twice every two weeks and much smaller portions so my body can crave it and have it but its not murdering me. I do think alot of people are seeing the light of eating healthy… At least here in canada… There will always be those monsterous fucks who dont gove two fucks that they weigh 450 pounds and eat that garbage 6 times a week and always get extra large everything.

Taking away the angus deluxe burgers is what drove me away

McD’s dying

I’m lovin it

I stopped eating there because they pay their employees slave wages (even while paying one of the highest premiums for advertising, and leading the world in outdoor marketing), the food is too expensive (aside from the dollar menu), the food isn’t filling, the food isn’t healthy, and there isn’t enough variety.

For the same price as a big mac combo, which won’t fill me and will add pounds to me, I can go get a giant ass bowl of pho, and some tea, and that will guaran-damn-tee I will be full.

I haven’t eaten from McDonald’s in 13 years, after watching a documentary on how much corners they cut to save money, as well as finding their menu undesirable. Calling the garbage they label as “food” should be illegal. Even other fast food joints, while also unhealthy, pale in comparison to McD’s subterfuge.

Chipotle is pretty based. Real Mexican food is even more based.

Isn’t McDonald’s advertising handled on a corporate level while workers are paid based on what the owner of the franchise is willing to pay?

You’re blaming one huge entity when it’s a lot more complicated than that. Because last time I checked, McDonald’s owned fewer than 60 of its own restaurants. And aside from state-level minimum wage, the owners of each franchise decides what to pay each worker. Sure, I guess McDonald’s corporate COULD make rules to what each restaurant should pay employees but then you’ll franchisees complaining about loss of profits and you can rest assured McDonald’s corporate is not going to lower their franchise fee in order to compensate.

I guess a lot of this goes over the heads of many of you, though.

Well compared to Wendys $1 menu, you might as well eat in a 3rd world country then Mc shit

A world without McRibs.

I can’t think of a single person on this planet who would disapprove of this.

Burger King shits on McDonald’s anyway.

UH, HUH. Chipotle is barbage as shit.

Bring back spicy chicken McBites or proceed on your path to oblivion.
