MC Cthulhu RJ45 Issues

I recently bought 2 new MC PCBs and soldered the cat5 cables to the pcb. Made some PS2, USB and DC RJ45 cables but none seem to be working. What are some trouble shooting techniques I can use to figure out what is going wrong?

retrace your wires in your cables.
probe everything out with a multi-meter

Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing. Guess i’ll keep doing it.

If none of that works you might need to reflash the firmware of the Cthulhu

Almost seems like the process has changed since the last Cthulhus I tinkered with. Those gave me straight directions to a firmware update but for these I couldn’t for the life of my find any site or instructions for firmware updates.

Did they discontinue updates or what.

Yeah I traced everything out with a meter and i’m still having issues. How do you reset the firmware.

From the Imp V2, did you solder the RJ45 power to a separate V column on the MC Cthulu?

No imp just the MC PCB. All I did was solder the cat5 to the top column.

Sounds like you have a short somewhere with two or more of the 8 cat5 cables, most likely at the top of the column, or neutrik. Doubt all your console cables are bad and the cat5 soldering is good. Make sure you get no solder or wires of the cat 5 touching another column on the board, or anything for that matter. Triple check everything. Good luck.

Yeah thanks. Its been a pain in my ass the last couple of weeks but I wont be defeated.

I have the same issue and the RJ45 doesn’t power up the PCB. It looks like the V point for the RJ45 doesn’t send the voltage to the IC.
